From director Ti West (House Of The Devil, The Innkeepers) Starring Brittany Snow, Jenna Ortega, Mia Goth Coming to theaters March 18th from A24.
With the exceptions of "The Innkeepers" and the "Second Honeymoon" - the second segement in "V/H/S" - I've never been particularly high on West's filmography. But this does look quite good.
Pretty tired of the trailer cliché with "cool" music, followed by silence, when the jumpscare is coming. Feels like every horror trailer is following this exact formula. Movie itself looks pretty promising though, even though I'm usually not a fan of the A24 movies.
It's like the Action Movie Trailer cliche with the drawn out Low End Bass note, with a slower-than-slow motion visual, then BAM--hyper-fast bullshit, then silence. Cue slow fade in of movie title with piano key being tapped.
"The story can't just change midway through," seems like a dead giveaway that the trailer is probably meant to be a red herring.
Saw a screening of this tonight and had a lot of fun. It pays homage to a lot of horror/exploitation films so even though the setup looks like Texas Chainsaw there's a lot more references throughout. Plenty of gore and nudity as well as suspense and good scares. I won't say it's a must-see on the big screen but very enjoyable when you get the chance.
Saw this on opening day. It was playing on one of the theaters small screens and only 3 other people were there. The film delivers. The violence, nudity, and scares should be enough to please just about anyone. The movie is well paced and never boring. I enjoyed it enough that I'm considering a second viewing before it leaves the theater. If you watch the film make sure to stay until the credits are over.
I caught it tonight. It was OK. Sounds like some of you enjoyed this more than I did. I found the 2nd act pretty boring. There was some excellent gore on display, couple creepy shots but I really wasn't all that into the story. The end of the credits scene was really cool. Make sure to stick around for that.
Damn I missed the after credits sequence (my friend needed to leave the screening as soon as the movie ended.) Might have to go see it again.
I thought this was a lot of fun, I really enjoyed pretty much everything about it. I loved how everything wrapped up in the last 5 minutes before the epilogue. I was surprised to see that Mia Goth also played the old woman Pearl. It never occurred to me that it was her. I know she stars as the young version of Pearl in the prequel that they tease after the end credits, but I didn't realize it was her in this.
Yup. Just saw it at a theater and was happy I did. Fun movie, fun characters, some good violence. No preachy nonsense like we have been seeing in pretty much everything else nowadays. Though there is a serious element to it as well.
Loved it, loved it, loved it! It's got horror, porn, and gators! Wiped the floor with Scream 5 and Halloween Kills. The Pearl prequel is officially at the top of my most anticipated list (it looks like they're taking a more '60s approach to exploitation, even though it is set earlier than that). I might even try to go again while it is still in theaters, and I rarely ever do that. Don't miss it!
I actually went and saw this again on Sunday while the Oscars were on, then came home and fast-forwarded through the Oscars on DVR. It's so good that I'd be down to go again a third time, but will probably wait for the blu-ray. Speaking of, the blu-ray will be released on May 24th. Special Features: - “That X Factor” Featurette - “The Farmer’s Daughters” Extended Scene
