Just done watching Soft For Digging (2001) from the director of Mimic 3: The Sentinel. I understand SFD is a student movie but still, wtf? It's the type of movie that causes head explosions. Just like Space Zombie Bingo and Don't Go Near The Park I'm not sure what to make of it.
Is it good? yes and no. Did it suck? yes and no. It's unusual, that's for sure.
Anyone ever enounter movies that left you stumped, baffled or made your head explode?

Are we discussing movies that leave us scratching our heads or movies that are so bad that it leaves us wondering how they got made?

Brazil is one of my all-time favorite movies, but definitely has plenty of WTF moments.

NAKED LUNCH: this David Cronenberg movie is really far out there. It's based on a William S. Burroughs novel, so that says it all.

MALATESTA'S CARNIVAL OF BLOOD: cannot describe this movie in just a few sentences. Surreal horror film set in a scummy amusement park populated by vampires, ghouls, and zombies. Stars Herve de Villechaize (Tattoo from Fantasy Island) and an intoxicated cast of unknowns. I love this obscure horror film! :D

FORBIDDEN ZONE: While on topic of Herve de Villechaize, here is another cult oddity he stars in. Danny Elfman does the music and also plays Satan. Too strange even for my tastes! :eek2:

I actually own Space Zombie Bingo in the box set, but I just couldn't watch more than 10 minutes of it without fast-forwarding through the rest of the mess.

Add Liquid Sky to the list. Such a weird film on various levels, but likeable.

The Fountain, aka Floating With Hugh. It's not WTF! as in I didn't get it, because (despite the melodrama) it was all so very simple. It was very WTF! as in why the story was ever told in such a ridiculous fashion. Some people really liked this movie, but for me, it was just one WTF! decision after the other. The fact that a studio finally agreed to finance that mess is a big WTF! in and of itself.

A Night to Dismember is another good pick, but that one I actually enjoyed.

Definitely in a class of its own. A friend asked me to compile a list of of "WTF" movies in my collection, this one was one of the shoe-ins. I need to do an updated WTF list it seems, as it would have lots of titles.

Also of note, just from what I remember off the top of my head as WTF but still worth watching (as opposed to WTF did I just waste 2 hours on):

XTRO: Goes from an alien abduction film to a squeemish Alien rip off to a surreal montage of homicidal toys and maniacal midget clowns. And back again. Doesn't make a whole lot of sense, but the freakish and squeemish visuals will keep you watching. Avoid the "sequels" like the zombie plague, they missed the entire mind-twisting approach of the original in favor of cliched "alien killer on the rampage" stories.

Tetsuo: The Iron Man: Defies description. Any attempt to describe the "plot" or its message would miss the point. Just watch this thing, and then try to get it out of your head.

Fantastic Planet: An oldie but a goodie. Story is pretty straight forward, even simplistic. But the art visuals were truly alien, evoking the same mental reaction you'd get if you were suddenly confronted with some odd deep sea fish and your brain misfired a few times trying to rationalize and recognize what it was seeing.

Andrzej Zulawski's Possession is WTF start to finish. From the subway scene to the revelation of Anna's new "lover," I was scratching my head the whole time. I need to give it another viewing before I make up my mind as to if I like it or not.

I just have to quote Nelson Munz here after he just witnessed Naked Lunch: "I can think of at least 2 things wrong with that title". Haha.
