Decent trailer. I like how they don't really show any of the attackers. I'll check out for sure.
This looks like fun! And it actually looks more like a direct sequel to the original than a remake.
Yeah thst looked like it could be decent and as others have said good trailer, they tantalised us without giving stuff away.
Enjoyed the trailer. I liked that it didn't show too much. I wonder if they will do a blu shortly after the 1-night only release or if they will stream it for purchase or what? Really eager to see this.
Tickets available for the Fathom Event:
Awesome!! Really appreciate the heads up on this. January 26th, Tuesday..... Just happens to be playing at an AMC up the street from me.
"The setting and story remain essentially the same, focusing on a group of youths lost in the wilderness, but fans of the previous six installments of the film series are in for quite a surprise when the villains finally emerge from behind the trees."
Think there might have been a reason why not showing too much.
Warning: Read at your own risk.
Makes sense as that trailer hardly showed anything. It definitely didn't sell me on this.
I do need to give the first two films a re-watch though. I don't remember them outside of the disfigured hillbillies.
Colour me intreaged!
I was gonna watch this anyway as I was a fan of the first two movies. But it's nice there is a little deviation from the original premise.
Hopefully it's an enjoyable deviation and not something that's gonna ruin the experience!
I do believe I'm gonna catch this tonight! Will post thoughts afterwards.
Digital and blu-ray on Feb 23rd.
So.....went and caught this special engagement. Started at 7pm. Showed up at 630 anticipating grabbing a beer before hand. Nope, bar at the theater closed. So I went down stairs and got a brew at Dave and busters (mall AMC theater). Got to my seat at 655 and the movie already started. Might have missed the first few minutes. Wasn't happy. Figured I had 20 solid mins of previews before Showtime. The fuck?
Anyways..........I think people are gonna dig this. It was definitely a lot different than the original Wrong Turn. Much different.
However....there was a serious lack of character development. I stayed around for the making of doc that aired right after the feature......they mention the fact you cared for the characters....I completely disagree. Never once did I feel anything for any of these characters. But there was still some awesome stuff on display here that I think a lot of you will enjoy.
And I have to mention the final scene. The credit sequence. Fucking beautiful. I absolutely loved how they ended this movie. Such a beautiful shot.......
Sitting at a bar right now soaking in what I just saw. Did I love it? Dunno. I honestly don't know if it had any business carrying the "Wrong turn" name....doesn't really fit in with any of the previous entries that share the same name. I was happy to just catch a new flick at the theaters......sans beer, was still awesome. Cheers.
I seriously hate when that happens. Every time I go to the movies it's like a half hour of adds and trailers before the actual film starts, yet the few times I've run late and assured myself there's no issue as all that stuff should still be playing that I miss the beginning of the movie. Like wtf? Totally understand that annoyance.
I also hate these films taking popular names and then doing something totally different ala Black Christmas. If that's the approach then come up with a new title dammit.
Still, I think I'll give this a watch out of sheer curiosity.
Looking forward to reading other people's thoughts.
Was there gore? Ahh, kinda. Couple cool deaths but don't expect anything over the top
Horror/comedy elements? Nope. Straight the fuck up. Very serious tone throughout.
Like I said, I honestly think some folks here will love this. Especially compared to recent theatrical efforts over the last few years. But for sure, wait till you see the credit/final sequence. It's pretty fucking awesome.
No hideously deformed rurals? That's disappointing. The politically incorrect but extremely effective shock value of the cosmetically challenged was the whole raison d'être of the original and its sequels.
Blu-ray on February 23rd:
Blu-ray/DVD Special Features include:
Deleted & Extended Scenes
“Monsters Among Us: Making Wrong Turn” Featurette
Wrong Turn Promotional Trailer
Feature-Length Audio Commentary with Director Mike P. Nelson
I'm glad they're doing blu-ray same day as digital. Saves me the VOD rental fee. This should be an easy blind-buy.
I'll probably pick up the blu. Looking forward to revisiting. I can't wait for a few of you to see to share your thoughts.
Might be a while. Not going to any theater anytime soon. Will wait for the Blu or other methods.
You missed your chance anyway, it was one-night-only. And the blu-ray is less than a month away.
Sounds like a good one to get when price dips below $10
