I think I might have only seen the first one. Never was interested in the sequels and I doubt I missed out. Anybody here seen any of these? And why in hell did they make that many sequels????

I never saw any of these, but I remember the VHS covers back in the rental days. Even though they were in the horror section, I had always assumed they were softcore. Am I wrong? :hum:

I've always been curious about these (yes, because of the covers). I too am interested to hear from anyone who has seen 'em.

I've seen a few. And yes, they were basically softcore with some "horror" mixed in. Basically stuff you'd see on Cinemax Saturday nights back in the '90s. They were entertaining enough if you are a horny teenager. lol

I've probably seen 5-6 of these over the years. I own the first one on DVD (a Simitar release that I grabbed for 1 cent I can recall), and I think one or two of the sequels in some old Brentwood DVD sets.

They're pretty laughable and terrible, but often enjoyable trash.

Saw the first six, I think. I was in my late teens/early twenties and was the prime audience for these when they came out Pretty much what you think, T&A, Cinemax style sex scenes, with flimsy horror elements.

The first one I believe is a straight horror film, I remember being annoyed at the lack of sex and nudity. I believe the second and third at least sort of attempted to have a loose storyline about a young man whose parents were powerful witches, but I think they let it go after a while.

These type movies were really popular in the Nineties, DTV "erotic thrillers." I rented a bunch of them back then.

There is a link in most of these movies being that a male character named William Spanner is in each one.
Also Julie Strain is in some of them.

And the second one basically replayed the first movie via flashbacks, but also had the guy being seduced by his sexy demonic neighbor [the "Temptress" of the title.]

Anyone remember the one where some priest has sex and says "Praise the Lord" upon insertion? I remember watching it as a kid and would like to check that one out again.

the one i saw (that wasn't the first one) involved vampires, and at one point a vampire chick gets it on with some guy (who may or may not be a vampire, i can't remember) on a jogging path in the middle of the day.

If you were going to video stores in the nineties it was practically impossible to avoid seeing these on the shelves. It's kind of amazing how long the series has gone on. I've never seen a one...what is the tone like with these? From some of the comments it seems like they can get pretty tongue in cheek, yet the covers always looked so decidedly serious (well, as serious as you can get for mostly naked women practicing witchcraft). Scary at all, or are we talking softcore Twilight? And has anyone seen remotely enough to recommend one film as being the best in the series?

They always played it straight [which made it funner], at least for ones that I saw. The villains would often kill people, but it was so obvious that the sex was the primary focus of the series that nothing really was all that scary about it.

The first one was probably the closest to an actual horror film. There is such a shift between the first one and the second, I guess someone had a conversation at some point about how they needed to show boobs if they were going to make any money.

Of the six or so that I've seen, there is only a real difference between the first one and the other five, since the first one was a regular horror film with no sex or nudity. The second was pretty cheaply produced, but I would say there was still a balance between the horror stuff and the sex scenes. As the series went on, it seemed like the production values got better, but it definitely became more like Cinemax After Dark material.
