By day, Mark Hunter (Christian Slater) is a painfully shy new kid in a small Arizona town. But by night, he’s Hard Harry, the cynical, uncensored DJ of a pirate radio station. Idolized by his high school classmates (who are unaware of his real identity), Harry becomes a hero with his fiercely funny monologues on sex, love, and rock and roll. But when he exposes the corrupt school principal, she calls in the FCC to shut Harry down. An outrageous rebel with a cause, Slater gives a brilliant performance as the reluctant hero who inspires his classmates to find their own voices of rebellion and individuality. A movie with a message, Pump Up the Volume is a raw and witty celebration of free speech that will make you laugh, make you cheer and make you think.

I'm glad the Lewtons haven't fallen entirely by the wayside.

A welcome surprise. Criterion had picked up Cat People, then Shout released a few more so I'm surprised to see these revert back to the Archive.

But with more restoration efforts going towards the Archive like Curse of Frankenstein, Wax Museum and Dr. X, maybe WB's licensing experiment has come to an end.

Back in May 2019, Scream Factory actually had announced Isle of the Dead for an August 2019 release, but they announced an indefinite postponement almost a month later and ultimately the release was cancelled, altogether. I'm under the impression they weren't satisfied with the sales on their prior Lewton titles, and threw in the towel on doing any more, but I don't think they ever went into any specifics as to why this release was scrapped.

I'm also really ecstatic to see Thundarr coming to Blu-ray. That's another DVD-R set I'll be happy to replace...

I pre-ordered Pump Up the Volume, which is one of my all time favorite movies. The only downside is that, unlike the DVD, there's no full screen option. Why is this a problem? Because in the full screen version you get a better view of Samantha Mathis's boobs when she takes off her shirt near the end. That aside, I'm looking forward to the upgrade.

I imagine those sales are a thing of the past but maybe Amazon will do some kind of equivalent. Even if they dropped the prices down to $12 or $13 each it would still be a good deal. Children of the Damned is currently $14.40 and I should probably pull the trigger since it probably won't go lower.

Keep an eye out for the Target B2G1 sales. They're usually $17.99, so buying three would make them $11.99 each.

I don't mind really, since you can often get them cheap on regular sales. It would definitely suck far more if Warner Archive ceased operations completely.

I grabbed Prince of the City on the last B2G1 with some other similarly priced titles, and I think it turned out to be just a littler over $10 in the end.

Yeah, I didn't believe them when they said that their last 4 for $44 would be their last. I guess expecting an equivalent sale from Amazon/Target is unlikely as they're middle men.

I guess I'm spoiled as I haven't bought a WA title since although there's quite a few I still want. I'll have to remember them for the next B2G1 sale.

I have gotten a few dvds from wb archive that were regular presses for a limited run. My season 1 of alice comes to mind. When they were talking about cutbacks i just ordered what they had between 1963 and 1983 and just put ot away to watch over time.
