Where does it show that for you? I thought the exclusives weren't supposed to be shipping until May...
Edit: I just reread, you meant don't go in the Woods didn't you? I got it on the 9th. Shipping was fast as hell and to Canada to boot!
I finally got it yesterday.
Oh, screw Dont Go Into The Woods... I'm waiting impatiently for news on Demonoid and Frightmare!
Eh. Can't say I'm interested in any of those.
Looking through the Xenon catalog, there isn't much there I'd be interested in getting on blu-ray. Except for maybe Blood Ranch, which I love, but it was made after 2000 so there's no market for it.
YESSSSS! Love love love all three of those Xenon picks, and will gladly blind-buy the early Peebles flicks. Cannot wait to add those Blus to the collection.
Feel the same way!
HATE Sweetback with a passion. Movie bored me to tears. Artsy fartsy Blaxploitation?....fart.
Interested in Dolemite though. Going by the trailer, it looks pretty fucking hilarious.
Sweet Sweetback is technically the Godfather of the Blaxploitation film movement. I can understand why some people would be bored with it, 'cause if you go in expecting what would later categorize the sub-genre you'll be disappointed as it's more a drama than an action movie.
I guess I'm still waiting for the kind of announcement I can really get excited about, something along the lines of: **NEW TITLE ANNOUNCEMENT!!**. Guess what's coming to Blu-ray!?! HELL NIGHT!!! FRIGHT NIGHT PART II!!
Not to rain on anyone's parade but there's an awful lot of obscure sex comedy coming out - is there really that big a market for that stuff? Many of them are so crude that they come across as school projects lol.
Don't worry, I feel exactly the same when I trawl the VS website. Awful lot of soft core porn with seriously misleading bylines best director of the 70s or some such shit. Go to IMDB and there's 15 movies listed or something.
VS are a cult and exploitation preservation label, so all the power to them for releasing the exploitation, sexploitation, adult titles amongst the horror titles - which do themselves have a fan base and people do buy them. I know from personally talking to them that some of the porno titles have outsold some of the horror titles. I don't really get the complaints though, I can understand not being into certain titles if they aren't your cup of tea, but at least VS is releasing the obscure stuff which we as genre fans should be supportive of. Doesn't mean you have to buy them, but to pan them for putting out titles other than horror is kinda ridiculous.
True, but that doesn't give it a pass for being a boring, pretentious piece of shit.
Two things happen in the movie, literally.... Sweetback does A LOT of running around and fucking random saggy tit women....that's it. There's hardly any dialogue and narrative/plot is basically non existent. Pointless movie...
I think Synapse mentioned their Asian porn DVDs outsell a lot of their genre films. :eek2:
I don't get it, but to each his own.
Very happy to hear about Coonskin. Thrilled to be able to see this film in Vinegar Syndrome quality!
Agreed. My only issue with all the porno releases is that it will take me a heck of a long time to redeem those 12 titles of my choice I qualified for via the Indiegogo campaign. And as much as I'd like to bundle my shipments together to as few as possible to keep the shipping costs down for VS, there seems to be far between future releases of Madman, Last House on Dead End Street, and Demonoid.
VS has released 14 horror titles in 2 years (some of which are porn) so you should have understood that when you made your pledge. Not sure why anyone would take issue with VS spending so much time on sexploitation and porn. That's been their focus since day one. It's pretty clear that their must be a market for it. Horror has many quality labels releasing product. Sexploitation and porn are what set VS apart.
I blind buy all of Synapse's Roman Porno titles. I don't buy all of their horror.
