Was it as bad as Hellmaster? It’s up on Shudder and it took me having to break it up into 3 viewings to get through it. I almost had to break it into a 4th viewing because it felt like the movie that would never end, but I forced myself to finish it somehow. Such a lousy movie, no idea how they got John Saxon and Flyboy to do it, although they probably do anything for cash, the whores.

I've not had a chance to view hellmaster yet so unfortunately I can't comment. I've been trying to think of a movie I can compare it to and unfortunately I can't, it really is that bad!

It's better than Hellmaster, in my opinion. Cthulhu Mansion is bad, but it's at least fun-bad. Hellmaster is just bad-bad.

So does vinegar syndrome usually only have a black friday sale or do they have any other big sales? There are a few titles I am interested in but they are a little pricey

Something must have gone wrong during the production of the disc.
Just look at the artifacts in these screenshots.

They have a 50% sale over Memorial Day weekend.

And they have a porno sale over Valentine's Day.

Well these screenshots are compressed by Mondo-Digital. The first one is 332 kb and the second is 343 kb for example. This isn't even as high as raw screen captures from DVDs. So you can't literally base the disc's quality off of Mondo-Digital's screenshots.

Yes, but looking at other screenshots from the other reviews on the site, it never looks that bad.

    Just to compare:

I'm not saying VS didn't fuck up. Just that you can't base your decision on Mondo-Digital's screen captures. There's a variety of reasons why different reviews could have different quality of screen captures. Even DVD Beaver isn't raw these days (for free). These kinds of sites are really only good to get framing or color comparisons. I'm completely blanking on some trusted sites now and they probably don't have their comparisons up yet as in depth comparisons take time.

I don't study these things as closely as I once did as I generally wait things out and order the discs later when on sale well after the general consensus is out.

Yeah, we'll see what it looks like, when (if) it shows up on sites like Caps-o-Holic.

VS is usually top notch, when it comes to their discs. So it would be surprising, if they fucked up the compression.

I didn't really notice any compression issues when I watched the disc...

It is odd that no reviewers have apparently picked up that the Intro is "dubbed in English" on the original Spanish track. That is really my sole criticism of the VS release. I'm sure it was most likely received that way from the licensor, since it was the same on the UK Blu-ray release... but the old Mondo Macabro DVD proves it was screwed with somewhere since that release for whatever reason. I was just really hoping they would have fixed that error.

The weird thing about VS releases from the past year or so is that they have a hidden "lossy" audio track on most of the discs. I'm not sure what the reason for including those really is. On Satan's Blood there actually 2 hidden "lossy" tracks; the English dub and the Spanish track.

Has anyone on here watched the Forgotten Gialli vol 1 and/or 2? I see Amazon still has some copies of volume 1 but who knows for how long. Just trying to decide if its worth 60.00 bucks before it goes totally oop. I really do enjoy these types of movies but not sure how good or bad these "forgotten" ones are

Volume 1: I really liked Trauma, which is kind of a silly Psycho rip-off set at a remote Spanish bed-and-breakfast. However, this seems to be most people's least favorite. The other two were fairly typical (and forgettable) giallo fare.

Volume 2: The two Dick Randall ones are just outrageous enough to work, but I thought My Dear Killer was a little too heavy on the police procedural and not especially interesting.

That said, I'm generally not a huge giallo fan, and with a few exceptions like Torso or the trashy late '80s fare like Delirium, I really don't find any replay value in them. So I may be the wrong person to ask.

I've only watched Trauma from Vol. 1, and I liked it. Didn't love it. I'm not as big a fan of Spanish giallo though, it was really something that the Italians just did better (and the best Spanish giallo I've seen was The Corruption of Chris Miller). Something about the look, the scenery, the font of the credits, the J&B all that from the Italian films. I'm hearing that Vol 1 will be pressed again, just not in the original box. Depends on how much that's your "thing".

Vol. 2 seems to still have enough copies available that I'm waiting till May to add it.

I watched both Volumes this past month. Here's my personal ratings:

    Vol.1:
    Trauma - 1.5/5
The Killer is One of Thirteen - 3.5/5
The Police are Blundering in the Dark - 2/5 (this one has some odd cheese though which makes it slightly more enjoyable than my rating would initially tell)

    Vol.2:
The Girl in Room 2A - 2/5 (I'd seen this one before and just am not a fan of this one, though I enjoyed it a bit more on this re-watch)
The French Sex Murders - 3/5
    My Dear Killer - 3.5/5

Thanks so much for the info everyone - I am still on the fence for vol 1 especially if there are plans to repress it later on - but it did inspire me to buy a few well reviewed giallo on blu I had not gotten around to <:

It's repressed currently. The limited edition of Vol.1 is sold out, so it's the retail "3 Blu-rays in a single case" that's only currently available, as the limited box set edition is now OOP and is not being reissued in this form.

The Police are Blundering in the Dark is the most fun because it has a lot of wacky elements and a strange atmosphere that makes it worthwile.

To be honest, on a technical level, the 2 Spanish gialli in that set are better films for certain, but I didn't have as much fun with them

I've slowly been getting out of the physical media game (that's a relative statement, I still have a million discs) but it is downright shocking what some VS titles sell for.
