I haven't watched it yet, but almost any film that's ever had an MST3K episode based around it probably has an IMDB rating that's been heavily skewed in one direction or the other.
The special features of Tales from the Hood are little bare.......but I did get a chance to watch the newly produced "Making of" feature which was terrific. New interviews from Rusty Cundieff and Corbin Bernsen inparticular were fantastic. Looking back after 20 years, listening to them reminisce on the film, specifically the social issues it tackled and the fact they're still relevant today.......just a really cool watch. They spent a good chunk of time on each segment too. OH and seeing Clarence Williams as Mr Simms in HD puts a smile on my face. He is the fucking man.
And sometimes they are just plain unfair with their selections. At least in the case of Jeff Lieberman's Squirm, which is one of the best creature/bug horror films ever made. Not that you could tell that to some of MST3K's more "No, Everything They've Ever Poked Fun At is the Worst Film Ever Made" fans.

It's been some time since I last watched it, but I like The Bat People. Sure I'm a sucker for 70's & 80's B-movie creatures, but this film has some cool selling points. It was filmed at Carslbad Caverns, New Mexico. The made for TV film Gargoyles was also filmed there just two years earlier. I have been to Carlsbad Caverns three times & it features the most impressive system of caves I have ever explored. Another thing this movie has in common with Gargoyles is the makeup effects of Stan Winston. Of course, Winston would go on to much bigger & more famous films. It's neat to get a look at his early work on a much smaller budget. I plan to pick up The Bat People on Blu-ray when Scream Factory releases it. Now I just wish someone would release Gargoyles on Blu.
I also enjoy the plot outline on IMDB: "Honey, remember our trip to Carlsbad?" "The one where you turned into a man-bat and killed all those people? Worst time I ever had."

I was having a hard time remembering this, even with the MST treatment. It wasn't until I read that exact description that I instantly knew the movie. It may be snark, but it captures the movie perfectly.
True. It's not a grand spectacle, it won't scare you out of your wits, and the 70's sleaze, while present, is kept restrained. But I enjoyed it and will no doubt get the Blu eventually. Again, it's nowhere near bad enough to deserve its place in IMDB's bottom 100.
I've always liked it a lot. The same production studio and some of the same crew (like the Composer) made Troll 2, so it has a similar look and feel at times... it's just more of a serious toned sci-fi monster movie though.
I had preordered it. Super shlock cheese with one of the most unconvincing miniature shots I've ever seen. I loved it when I first saw it and had to have it in HD. SPOLIER (hilariously bad effects shot (pause it right before the end):
I received the Blu-ray the other day, and it looks pretty solid in HD...all of the bad effects are certainly clearer now! Unsurprisingly, the only extra is the original Trailer. It's interesting for being an Italian production shot in the USA with American actors like it was... it just isn't "crazy" like Troll 2 is most of the time. The music score does sound a lot like Troll 2 though, sometimes identical. One of the film's many alternate titles was Troll 3 in fact, which never made any sense beyond those little similarities.

Boone is good and it's simple and sweet - like an extended Twilight Zone episode. The atmosphere is also a bonus. The bare-bones Shout! Factory Blu-ray produces a fine a/v presentation - but is only recommended if you can nab it at a reasonable price. Ohh and don't be too swayed by the cover or title - it's more passive than you might anticipate!"
Got mine today will watch it tonight I changed to the reverse artwork the crawlers is a much better title than contamination .7
Scream commented on Facebook on what we can expect for Beyond The Gates on DVD and Blu-ray: "Audio commentaries with Crampton, Director, cast & crew; Deleted Scenes; Behind-the-Scenes featurette & more!"
I really enjoyed contamination.7 awfully bad but fun movie glad I got the blu ray. Light on gore though this could of been a very gory movie but wasn't
