Some good news! Sucks about the missing film elements though. :(

This one needs a new issue, the old HBO dvd is very grainy at times. I'll pick this one up for sure as it's a favorite.

Been a fan of Second Sight ever since they released the still definitive release of Return of the Living Dead with the complete soundtrack intact. Can't wait for this!

Weird... there was someone over on Blu-ray.com a few days back "confirming" it was coming out from Arrow, because they were involved with one of the bonus features or something. Fake news again! :p

Wow though, the original elements are either lost or destroyed? That's rather surprising and disheartening. Hopefully Second Sight can do a good job with what they have for the restoration.

I have the German Blu-ray Mediabook, but I'll definitely upgrade.

I've got the German release, I've not opened it yet! So I've put it up for sale.

I don't think based on the info there will not be much different, but the extra clean up has got to help. So second sight all the way.

What sucks is this is a very well shot, and pretty movie.

Is that release of ROTLD still considered definitive? I have it but have been thinking of unloading it because I have so many editions.

It is the only release I know of to present the complete theatrical soundtrack for the film. The later Scream Factory release still had one song missing.

It's the one reason I'm holding onto their release of it, But the Scream Factory has the better transfer though.

It's all about PQ for me so I can live without one missing song. I thought there would be a bunch of other stuff missing or altered.

What song was still missing? I remember the F.U.'s "Young, Fast Iranians" was missing from the soundtrack album and maybe some earlier releases.

The Scream Factory disc is missing “Dead Beat Dance” by The Damned. Originally the song played as the gang rides in Suicide's car for the first time.

Ah, OK- things have become a bit more clear now. I did a little more research to realize that "Young Fast Iranians" was the song that replaced "Dead Beat Dance". I honestly couldn't remember which song was in the movie when I saw it in theater in '85. The Damned is one of my favorite bands, but I prefer having the F.U.'s song (well, I guess this was when they had changed their name to Straw Dogs). I actually got to tour with the F.U.'s playing bass for a short UK/European tour in the summer of 2017 and we played "Young Fast Iranians" every gig.
