The Purge meets Mad Max... I think I've had enough.
I'd had enough once I'd seen the second entry. I've seen all the films for my sins and while the first was interesting, I never enjoyed the rest. I stayed away from the series and I'm gonna stay away from this.
I saw the third movie (I think) because my friend wanted to see it. That was enough for me. I didn't want to die during it or anything, but I thought it was pretty stupid and not particularly entertaining. Certainly not memorable, literally the only thing I remember was a very irritating girl yelling about candy. I've always thought the premise was pretty dumb, so I'm not really interested in seeing any more of these.
The only modern series I like less than Paranormal Activity is The Purge. I didn't enjoy a single entry from either series.
Same here. After that I didn't bother. I couldn't care less about this franchise. I'm always surprised when I hear a new one announced.
Right? Who is shelling out money for these (producers and audiences)?
I agree with the posts here. I know I saw Purge 1 and 2. Maybe 3. I can barely remember it. Never checked out the TV series or movies after Part 3. I think from Purge 1, the formula is have a little conversation about the society in the opening and then just have people running for their lives. It's stupid but guess what? It's a Blumhouse movie series that makes tons of money compared to the budget. According to wiki:
Purge 1 = Budget $3 Million / Box Office $89 Million
Purge 2 = Budget $9 to 11 Million / Box Office $111 Million
Purge 3 = Budget $10 Million / Box Office $118 Million
Purge 4 = Budget $13 Million / Box Office $137 Million
Even if you double or more the budget for marketing. This series is a consistent money maker. And that's not with DVD / Blu-ray sales and whatever TV / cable deals. Sad because I'll never watch any of the movies again.
I joked once to a neighbor that I was upset with that I saw a movie where you could kill you neighbors for one night if you wanted. I think they thought I was crazy but that got them to be nice.
I watched this tonight, it was ok, about the same as the other movies, it had a nice idea but didn't really do anything with it, save for a few 'news item' information points this could have been any of the other purges.
Some of the characters were terrible, the guy in the police van being particularly terrible and the redneck who instigates the chase, also if you ponder to much on the whole thing, plot holes galore start appearing!
Hey it wasted 100 mins, can't say much more than that.
