Able to make my first double-feature of October tonight with the above and

Superstition (1982), which was maybe not worth the little effort I put into it. What silly, silly film with entertaining kills. In the end, when the guy is slip n' sliding around the attic floor? What the hell are his shoes coated with, greasy hamburgers? Stand up, man, come on. And why--why!--does everyone continue to stay in the house? it's as if they all hate themselves and can't wait to be killed. I did appreciate the atypical violence involving small children, however, so kudos to you, otherwise innocuous horror movie!

Did some catching up on my watching last night after a horror free few days with my family (well, horror film free anyway...)
Unrest: I didn't have massive hopes for this film for some reason, but it actually turned out better than I expected. It's a little bit slow, and there are some silly bits involving diving in a tank of formaldehyde (surely that would burn your eyes out or something, if you were still alive), but it's actually a pretty good little film. It has some interesting and slightly original ideas, and it has a good, creepy atmosphere. The body count isn't bad either :D
The Devil Again, I wasn't sure how good this film was going to be, but actually quite a creepy little film. It can be slow in places, and if you're not a fan of unseen horror (a lot of the action happens in the dark, but I actually quite liked trying to work out what was going on)it may not be for you. Could have done with a little more development of the main characters and the ending was a little rushed and unbelievable, but I found a few genuine surprises and the film passed really quickly for me. I found it an interesting little idea for a film and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
The Slaughter the awful sound quality made this film totally unwatchable.
Overall, two out of three were really decent watches.

Wes Craven's urban fairy tale is a fun thrill-ride. Still holds up pretty well. 4/5

    Movie Total = 56
    TV Episode/ Documentary Total = 23

Roseanne S:6 - Halloween V (1993) - Another Roseanne Halloween, another year of pranks. In this episode Dan must play a prank on Nancy to prove he likes her, the problem is he doesn't. As well, Darlene and David may be cheating on each other. Like every Halloween episode from this show, this one has a lot of good laughs and pranks. It may not have the quality of some of the best episodes, but it was far from bad as well.

Poltergeist 2 (1986) - I was surprised at how good this movie was, as well as how creepy. I remember both sequels being bad, although I don't think I have ever saw either from beginning to end so maybe that had something to do with it. Sometimes it goes a little too far, but overall it's comparable to the first film in every way, just not quite as good. I might even have to give this film the edge in being more frightening thanks to the preacher Kane who would be scary even if he wasn't an evil ghost. Did anyone else get chills when Carol Anne talks about not wanting to grow up and become an adult?

She-Wolf of London (1946) - I'm surprised this came after the Wolf Man as it feels more like a sequel to Werewolf in London as well as a product of that time. How can you go back to that style after the greatness that was The Wolf Man? The idea behind the story is rather interesting if not a little predictable. As well, I can't help but be disapointed by the fact that
there is no she-wolf or werewolf of any kid for that matter despite what the title says. The murderer doesn't even dress up in a fake werewolf costume, she just wears a cloak.
. It wasn't that bad though, and at just over an hour the movie doesn't stretch out too long.

Cronos (1993) - Guillermo Del Toro once again delivers the goods. This was the only film of hi that I hadn't seen, and after enjoying all his others I expected for this to at the least be decent. Of course, it ended up being a lot better then that. Del Toro tells a vampire tale, but completely puts all the rules and myths on their head. I'm willing to bet you haven't seen a vampire movie like this, nor will you ever see one again. It opens up with a philosopher who has created a gold jewel in the shaped of a beetle that can grant you immortality, thanks to the sting of the insect hidden inside it, unfortunately it also makes you lust for blood as well as be extremely sensitive to sunlight, characteristics of a vampire. The philosopher dies during an accident and his treasure is lost for many years until it ends up in the hands of an antique shop's owner and his young niece. He is accidentally stung by the object, and starts to become a vampire like creature. At the same time a rich man dying of cancer who has searched for the immortality for many years learns that the old man has it, and sends out his nephew played by the brutish Ron Pearlman to achieve it for him. I won't give any more of the plot away because half the fun was seeing what fresh and exciting ideas Del Toro throws at you next. There are so many great scenes in this, and I would easily put this up there with Pan's and Devil's Backbone.

The Collector (2009) - This movies was surprisingly a lot of fun. I think the best way to describe it is Home Alone for adults, replacing the laughs with grisly and gore soaked kills. Yes, some the scenes are a little too torture porn for my liking, and the whole thing is implausible as there is no way he could set all those elaborate traps in the time that he had, but you know what, so what? When has suspending your disbelief been a problem for a horror film? Like I mentioned before the kills are quite gooey in this one, some of the better kills I've seen in a modern horror film. The killer has a really cool and somewhat frightening design. And the hero character doesn't make a lot of stupid choices that you normally see in horror films. You won't be pulling out your hair or yelling at the screen as much in this film. I am surprised this film didn't light up the box office like similar fare such as the Saw and Hostel films, as I found this film more interesting, as well as more entertaining. That being said there is talks that a sequel will happen so count me in as one that will be in line when the next film hits the local multiplex.

Thanks! The Three Stooges have another one too called Spooks (with Shemp) from 1953. It's in 3-D and that volume even comes with two sets of 3-D glasses.

    The Mummy's Ghost (1944) :troll::troll::troll::joshua::joshua:
Originally I found this to be a mess with an unfocused script. Now after watching this again I've come to appreciate its red herrings, foreshadowing and general theme of eternal curses. This goes back to core Mummy stuff in a big way with its plot and only now do I admire how well it understood the dramatic arch of the series. Underrated.

    Anthropophagus (1980)
