Why doesn't Synapse release The Kindred, been waiting eight fucking years for it. What is the problem?
Manos...The Hand of Fate is taking up too much of their time and money. Seriously, how many people really want to see stuff like Manos ahead of long-awaited (and actually watchable) films like The Kindred? I don't buy that rights being tied up in court excuse. Let's face it, Synapse probably just lost interest.
I really wish people would stop giving any time of day to films like Manos just to be ironic or whatever. If it is not the Kindred, it could be another awesome film that needs some tlc. I mean, is it a stoner thing?
In Manos' place, they could be releasing THE KINDRED, or RAD or NO RETREAT NO SURRENDER. For-sure buys for me. I have zero interest in Manos outside of MST3K, which I've already got.
It's a shame Synapse is wasting time with crap like Manos. It doesn't deserve or need a blu-ray release. How about some Pinky Violence Synapse?
Guys, Synapse is just distributing Manos. The restoration is being done independently. http://horrordigital.com/vb3forum/showthread.php?t=43161&highlight=manos & http://www.manosinhd.com/
This argument can be made about any title from any studio. It's patently absurd. "If Warner wasn't working so hard on The Hobbit we could have Fearless Vampire Killers." It's just not true. If Kindred is as the bottom of the pile, it's there for a reason. Taking Manos off the top won't change that. Manos is where it is because of money from a Kickstarter. Itself long delayed for perhaps years by now. I've been waiting nearly a decade for Thundercrack!, and even still there all we get is the same old yearly rumblings that it's coming soon. (pun intended) If you want Kindred to overcome whatever challenges it may be facing, why don't you start your own legal fees Kickstarter? Or a Kickstarter to buy out Synapse if y'all think it's some conspiracy.
Why would Don BS about The Kindred? It's not as if rights issues are an uncommon hurdle when releasing older genre films.
This is why I advocate labels NOT ANNOUNCING anything until the ink on the contract dries up. And hope that the label owner has the foresight to research the materials to see what kind of shape they're in BEFORE signing a contract. It's common sense stuff. This way we're not sitting with our palms under our asses for decades waiting for shit to come out. It just pisses me off. Don't even get me started on Code Red. Sitting on shit for years without doing anything
Well you can think you are making a fully legit deal, announce it then have some third party claim ownership. That's not something any company can foresee.
Looking forward to Synapse's Phenomena. Think I'll keep my 'Wildside' Tenebrae though - quite happy with that.
From Facebook: I'm still thinking that Suspiria in 2015 is wishful thinking. Hopefully they're not waiting for a three to be done before they release them. The internet might implode.
