Chopping Mall had a VHS transfer and they never did pony up a new version. I think this is all we gettin' for Slaughter, too. Alas.

2 & 3 were uncut in every version of their DVD releases I believe.

Harry Manfredini sure phoned in that score. If he's not just ripping off his tracks from Friday the 13th, he's playing horribly repetitive three note loops throughout. I'm not sure why the movie needed TWO opening pranks to setup the whole revenge angle - did the running time need to be padded that much? It was funny to see Caroline Munro in this passing herself off as a recent high school grad - she looks (is) a good twenty years older than everyone else! Derivative story, a few decent kills and a finale that's at first angering but then at least a little unkempt - it's not bad. I'd probably give Class Reunion Massacre the edge were it not for that inexplicable tangent it goes on for the biblical finale. At first I thought it was going to go down the Cutting Class route of cheese camp crap, but it stayed pretty true to the genre. Again, not bad, but probably not worth much more than the VHS transfer it's received.

Well, I pre-ordered and I'm going to enjoy watching this for the first time in years!! I always laugh how Marty cups the joint and has this double take reaction to the exploding load. Hilarious!! I love this movie. Also, the laid back pot & cocaine references always freaked me out as a kid. Like it was made by real druggies exposing their pleasures.

Hey what's this ripping off his own tracks from Friday the 13th talk? He already ripped off his own tracks from The Children to score Friday the 13th  But, seriously, I can't get enough of it!

Good review, my friend. Well written and pretty on the mark. The trivia track almost sounds funny. The one trope I always hate in writing, though, is "pun not intended". It always comes off as so smug, like "Hey, you thought that was a pun didn't you? Well, I thought about it first, and trust me, you're wrong." I say leave it up to the reader, it's nicer that way!

Wait, so this DVD has the trailer for the original My Bloody Valentine? SICK. Why it wasn't included on the original DVD is beyond me, but hell that's almost worth the price alone. I love this movie (even though it totally sucks) so I'll definitely be picking it up.

I wouldn't be surprised if the trailer was the promo for the DVD itself rather than the actual trailer. Same thing with The Monster Squad. Those were pretty ubiquitous throughout their promotion prior to release. If it's the real deal, though, that's cool.

You're absolutely right, Rhett. It's actually a promo for the DVD itself rather than the actual My Bloody Valentine trailer.

Included are trailers for the original My Bloody Valentine and The Monster Squad, as well as Dirty Dancing.

My Bloody Valentine I get...The Monster Squad, passable...but Dirty Dancing!?

Anyone feel free to throw your best one liners.

  15. Why couldn't someone send the makers of Dirty Dancing to Slaughter High? Then we wouldn't have to see the steaming fecal matter that is DD.

Well to be quite honest, Dirty Dancing IS a better film than Slaughter High. I mean, come on...

This is going to be super fucking hard to find. Anybody know where to get it?? Best Buy, Borders, Barnes and Noble, Fye and Suncoast all don't have it. I'll try Wal-mart, target, Meijer and Sam's, but I doubt they will either. Great job of distribution by Lions Gate.

As much as I love Manfredini's work in the F13 series, he's a bit of a one-trick pony. Remember that SWAMP THING score??? :p

Just as an FYI... I ran to Frys during lunch, and snagged the only copy they had. (I'm in Alpharetta, GA)

I've never seen this little cinematic gem before. But, based on the various comments, I thought it would be a decent blind buy for $9.
