I like the Happy Birthday To Me twist ending. Never saw that coming when I first watched the movie back in the day.
Yeah, Sleepaway Camp definitely puts all the others to shame. Other slasher twists that deserve recognition: Friday the 13th April Fool's Day Funeral Home Madman American Nightmare Fatal Games The Initiation Killer Workout Dressed to Kill Happy Birthday to Me My Bloody Valentine (both versions, really) Prom Night Mortuary Double Exposure Sweet 16 And ones that deserve it in a bad way: Scream (1981) A Day of Judgment The Redeemer Don't Go in the Woods The Forest
I'm gonna go with Girls Nite Out. I honestly don't remember if the twist was an obvious one or not, (haven't seen it since 1984) but I remember the way it was presented genuinely gave me the creeps.
Yeah, all the ones rhett listed! My personal favorite "twist ending" slashers are April Fools Day and Sleepaway Camp.
Happy Birthday to Me, April Fools Day, The Initiation, Dont Look Now, Dressed to Kill, Sisters, Sleepaway Camp, Sleepaway Camp 5.
I was looking over all the slashers I'd seen to try and remember the endings, and from what I remember Terror Train is pretty straight forward. What did I forget? Spoiler Did the killer have a sex change operation or something? It wasn't Copperfield, was it? It's been awhile, but I do remember that at the start you saw the prank, and then the rest of the movie was the killer exacting revenge using the different masks. Then he's pwned by Ben Johnson and falls off the train into all that Canadian snow. Again, seems straight forward, but I imagine I'm forgetting something about the killer's final reveal.
April Fool's Day...I seriously didn't see that coming. Knowing how many '80s slashers got "slashed" by the MPAA, I just assumed April Fool's Day was another victim. TOTALLY didn't see that ending coming. Sleepaway Camp I think tops them all, though. Such a mindfuck of an ending. Wow. I remember being incredibly disappointed with the ending to Happy Birthday to Me. In all honesty, I think it's a perfect slasher and that the ending just ruins it because it just ends up being stupid. (It's like how the fuck could she have pulled that off!?) To me it just seemed very sloppy and half-assed. ~Matt
Spoiler Copperfield was a red herring, it turns out to be his assistant that is the killer in drag. The way he/she is shot throughout the film though makes it pretty hard to tell that it is a guy.
Ahh, that's right. That was good. That trick was better than any of Copperfield's throughout the movie!
haha I pretty much enjoyed that one. It's grade-Z fodder but I thought it had it's entertaining bad moments. Well, at least it kept me entertained
