"Straight as straight can be," then goes on to quote a song with the lyrics, "Plucked her eyebrows on the way, shaved her legs and then he was a she." o_O

Hey Paff, take a walk on the wild side. :p

That's Holly Woodlawn, and Joe mentions working with her in his interview as well!

Yeah, that songs all about the Factory gang. In the words of Alan T in the song The Door "Ladies and gentlemen...THESE are role models"

I finally received my order from Severin earlier today. The box arrived looking beat to hell, but everything was okay. Thankfully they wrapped the book in extra bubble wrap... otherwise it probably would have had the corners dinged.

    More Severin drama!

Looks like the upcoming DROP DEAD FRED blu-ray has been removed from their site and they scrubbed all mention of it from social media.

I had thought the slipcover for Siege was a Severin website exclusive, so I was surprised to receive one from DeepDiscount.

Using their recent 15% coupon, I got their entire July bundle for over $20 cheaper than it is selling for on their website.

Always down for more Barbara Steele. Always down for more Franco and this looks like his early stuff which I find I enjoy more in their own way like I enjoy Takashi Miike's crime stuff before he started his weirder stuff. (I enjoy both's weird stuff too.)

Ugh, you guys made me dislike the song now. Not a fan of the Factory's "output." These horror films being the exception.

In addition to Drop Dead Fred, it appears Cruel Jaws (blu-ray, DVD, and novelization) have been removed from the Severin website as well. Still available from other retailers for now, but if you were on the fence about getting it, now would be the time...

Yikes - thanks for the heads up. Grabbed from off eBay from BlowitOuttaHere. They have one left. Other than that one, this is looking scarce!

I wonder what the reason behind this was (Cruel Jaws)? The limited edition I understand buy why stop offering the standard edition? Maybe a contractual obligation. The prices on Ebay are already ridiculous.

The shark attack scenes feature unlicensed footage from Universal's Jaws movies throughout. There's also footage from The Last Shark and they rip-off the score from Star Wars almost exactly.

Exactly why I picked it Cruel Jaws back when it came out. I almost expected this to happen with it, so I can't say that it comes as any real surprise.

Well FYE emailed me that the blu ray is on backorder now - so I am out of luck. I went ahead and picked up the dvd instead off ebay for 20 bucks.

Just watched Kier-La's doc as part of Fantasia yesterday - it's an exhaustive documentary and covers a LOT of ground seeing as it runs 3 hrs and 15 mins. It can suffer a bit from being a bit too "scholarly" at times, but it's very informative and gives an all-encompassing history of folk horror from around the world. The run time might seem daunting, but as stated there's a lot of good, well researched info - cutting it down would make it a little more palatable for more mainstream viewers, but I was never bored throughout and it makes good use of it's run time. I'm definitely excited to see what films are included in the box set, especially after just seeing the doc and having an inkling of what might pop up!

Definitely not a blind buy for me until then. Also curious what their definition of folk horror will be, with regards to the titles - its a rather vaguely applied term these days.

Having said that, if the full run of The Dark Secret of Harvest Home ever ends up on a Severin release, that would be a blind buy. Somehow I strongly doubt that's on their menu, though.
