I haven't seen Hell of the Living Dead (Night of the Zombies) since it played in the theater here some 40 years ago. Even so my memory is that both my friend and I thought it was pretty crappy at the time. I distinctly remember it being a well used print as there were several breaks.

Severin has a podcast, apparently, and went into depth about their upcoming Andy Milligan set: https://severin-films-podcast.libsyn.com/ep-07-the-dungeon-of-andy-milligan

At about 35 minutes in they explained the "Never Before Released Director’s Cut" description on:
    Torture Dungeon ( Macabre )
    Bloodthirsty Butchers
The Curse of the Full Moon ( The Rats are Coming! The Werewolves are Here! )
Man With Two Heads ( Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Blood )

They went back to the original elements which were 16mm reversal films so "positives" not "negatives." Apparently the distributor did not cut these original elements as 35mm intermediates needed to be made and it was those 35mm intermediates which were cut. So these are the original director's cuts which were never distributed and never made it to home video!

Additionally, at 55:20, they talk about how their Legacy of Blood ( Legacy of Horror ) has the "Never Before Released Theatrical Cut" which was never made available before as the TV edit was the only transfer made available originally. But they got the uncut theatrical version from the producer so that's gonna be a first too.

It's a fun informative podcast and includes an hour of Milligan scores at the end. They put a lot of work into this set and, while I was convinced before, I'm psyched to see these all now. Once this hits people's porches, and word gets out what they contain, I can't imagine the already low stocks holding out.

You make me wish I was there. I was kinda excited about this flick back in '83 when it came out because the stills looked so glossy in Fangoria. I remember vividly how glossy THE GATES OF HELL looked at the cinema so I just kinda assumed all imported Italian zombie movies looked decent.
When I rented that VHS though...it just looked so puke-y.
Love the Anchor Bay DVD, though.

I remember seeing the poster for the film and really wanting to watch it. I have the Blue Underground and 88 Films blu-ray releases but haven't watched either one yet. It must have had a fairly large release as it opened on 11 screens where I live.

I received the March bundle package from Severin earlier today...

...and goddamn the Slipcover is tighter than a nun on Vampire in Venice. I don't think I've ever experienced a Slip that was that tight on the case. The other 3 Slips (Day of the Beast 4K, Perdiate Durango 4K, A Scream in the Streets were tight, but not next to impossible to remove.

That reminds me of some steelbooks I've had in the past where I'd be sweating trying to get the disc out as the holding nub was so tight the disc would flex. I got rid of those asap as I didn't want to worry about snapping the disc in half any time I wanted to watch it.
But yeah, I feel some of these packaging's need to be quality controlled for ease of use.

Same with my Eaten Alive. It’s almost impossible to get it back into the slip.
If the insert had the same cover, I would have thrown the slip in the trash.

Also, compared to other labels, their slips are very thin and flimsy.

The Dungeon of Andy Milligan is starting to ship.

We've got great news that ISN'T an April Fool's joke! The Dungeon of Andy Milligan Collection sets are officially in hand at our shipping facility and packers are already working diligently to get them out. Based on the number of people working from Monday to Friday, we anticipate that all Milligan related orders will be shipped out by April 19th.

We have a similar AWAY message up through our orders@severin-films.com address to help curb the dozens of "Where's my order?" emails that come in hourly. The AWAY message is the only response we will be giving to any Milligan related emails UNLESS you need an emergency address change. All non-Milligan related emails sent to us through there will be addressed within 24-48 hours.

Thank you very much. We cannot wait to hear what you think of this historic release!

Great, now that Gilligan is shipping and all issues have been resolved, can we focus on the REAL reason we're all here: Black Emmanuelle? When, when, when? :)
