I’m always up for Scream. Hard to believe that last film is already 10 years old! I had a great time at the theaters with that because it was so refreshing at the time when everything else was either shaky cam found footage or torture porn. It didn't do very well and felt very dated by that point but that was a plus in my book not a minus.

I'm all for it......however, that trailer didn't exactly excite me. That being said, I'll be first in line at the theaters

Love it. It's been a remarkably consistent series, and I liked all of them, including 4. Let's go.

Can't say I'm a fan of any of them to be honest, but that did look interesting. I will watch it at some point.

Looking forward to it. Hard to believe it's been 10 years since the last film.

Great trailer. Just enough to tantalise me, give me a decent idea of what's going on and not dive into spoiler city. This is how trailers should be. I won't need to watch another. Definitely checking this out.

I only like the first and last Scream. I'll pass on this trailer. But I hope this isn't another pass the series on to the younger crowd like so many recent sequels. You know. The ones when the legacy characters die for the new characters that aren't as good. I thought the last line in Scream 4 was classic. I really didn't expect Scream 4 to be that good but it surprised me as I really didn't like Scream 2 or 3.

I liked the trailer. The smart home door-locking bit seems to border on parody for me, but there's something very nostalgiacly pleasant in seeing Neve Campbell once again playing Sydney Prescott.

They already did the reboot tropes within Scream 4, didnt they? I'm curious if there will be any interesting meta stuff in this one. What are 5th entries known for? The villain might turn out to be a paramedic avenging his murdered son. Or maybe they'll go for the sequel-to-the-reboot tropes, where this is somehow a prequel/origin story?

I too have enjoyed the 4 previous ones, so I'm looking forward to it, and I'm curious to see how the franchise fairs without Craven.

I'm getting a Ghostface tattoo this Halloween weekend. I love this series (part 3 is just OK).....I'll try to avoid any further trailers

I saw it last night. It’s OK, not great but entertaining enough. The violence in it is brutal at times, but with all of the recent horror movies I’ve watched and the entries in the previous series I’m kind of desensitized to all of it. Unfortunately I figured out who the killer is about 20 minutes into the movie. Like I said it’s not great but it’s entertaining enough. I truly hope there Are no more Scream films after this one. At this point it just feels like beating a dead horse and a cash grab.

I saw every Scream movie on opening weekend, but I'll pass this time. Part 4 was so bad, IMHO, that I can't see them doing anything new with future entries. Part 4 used remakes as an excuse to rip off its own franchise. I wonder if Part 5 will do the same with reboots. Plus, without Wes Craven, all I anticipate is a cash grab (as mentioned above) following the success of the Halloween reboot.

I hope I'm wrong. I'd like to enjoy a new horror movie, but I'm not paying $30 for a ticket and popcorn for a series that already died a slow death (I'm unfamiliar with the MTV series, so I can't comment on what kept the brand around).

I had a lot of fun seeing Scream 4 in the theater 10 years ago. It was nice and nostalgic at that point to see a film like that amidst all of the dreary torture porn films being released. I can take or leave Wes Craven since he had always been a more miss than hit kind of director. The MVP of this franchise was always Kevin Williamson (although I don't think he had anything to do with this one, either).

I'll wait until it's available to stream.
The only one I really like is the original.
None of the sequels could capture the same magic again, and just got more stupid and annoying.

    Yup.

At the end of the day it's a new entry in a classic franchise/villain.....zero percent chance I'm missing it on the big screen. Even if it's not great, guaranteed to be better than most crap that gets released these days

I was trying to find the ideal time to go, but showtimes have been more limited since the pandemic so I decided to just get it out of the way and hit the 7:15 showing tonight.

Before tonight I would have said there are no bad Scream movies. I love the first four, so those of you complaining about the sequels will want to avoid this one. It's the worst of the series by far. Without a Kevin script or Wes behind the camera, it feels like bad fan fiction.

This was playing on one of the big screens at the local multiplex. There weren't that many people there but that is generally the case as I see the earliest showing. The night shows gather much larger crowds. While I won't say this is a good film I still enjoyed it. The plot was basically what I was expecting. There was sufficient violence to earn the R rating. Characters do dumb things as is almost always the case in these films. The hospital scene in particular annoyed me. I've seen all the Scream films theatrically but have only revisited the first film. I'm not a huge fan of the series but feel they are decent slashers.

There’s plenty you can pick apart about this entry but I mostly enjoyed it and think if you’re a fan of the series you won’t be disappointed. My biggest gripe is that the younger characters they’re trying to pass the torch to aren’t very interesting. They really struck gold with that original teen cast who made each character really memorable. Maybe that’s an old fart complaint, though, and younger audiences will identify with the new cast.

I liked it a lot. Did it reinvent the wheel? No, but I don’t want it to. It’s shot like a Scream movie. It feels like a Scream movie. It’s warm nostalgia all over like hot chocolate on a bitter cold winter day.

    I still prefer Babadook.
