Just checked out the Rue Morgue screening a couple of days ago. I found it to be fantastic. It rocked the theater which I have not scene in a while. I have to admit I even jumped during a scene. I felt 10 again.

Nope. Ya gotta go Region Free!

I have to admit that I still don't own this yet even though I can play anything.

This movie is playing at the Vancouver Film Festival (viff.org) for anyone in the area that may not know. I have my tickets already and I'm looking forward to it. I had no idea that "Quarantine" was a remake of this film... that was fast.

If you haven't already, DO NOT watch the trailer to Quarantine before seeing Rec.

I just watched Rec again, it holds up pretty good on repeat viewings. This thread is the first I've heard of Quarantine. Its just about Oct 10, anyone know where I'll be able to check it out? Is it gonna get a theater release?

Anyone here see Quarantine yet? It's playing at a theater here in town and I was contemplating seeing it, but then I stumbled across this thread and learned that it's an Americanized remake of a foreign film, which generally, I'm not fond of. Still, I don't know when I'll get the chance to see [Rec], so I'm just wondering if this remake of it is even worth my time and money. Can anyone following these two films shed any light on this for me? Is Quarantine a good enough film on it's own to warrant a viewing before seeing the original? It just kind of seems like blasphemy to me to not see the original first.

^ Considering how fantastic a film [.Rec] is, I would see it first so as not to spoil any of it's effectiveness. From the looks of it, it's close to a shot for shot kind of thing. I may give Quarantine a look eventually, as I like Jennifer Carpenter, but I'm in no big hurry. Maybe a double feature for Halloween...

I really liked REC a lot, and even though I won't find any surprises with Quarantine, I still plan on seeing it this weekend. Jennifer Carpenter is great in Dexter and there isn't a whole lot of new horror coming to the theatres, so Quarantine is a must see.

You got a good point there Cujo...I'm going to have to order [Rec] when I have the extra cash. From all the praise on here it sounds like it will be well worth the wait.

I DL'd it and watched it last night and really liked it. There are few "camcorder" films that are done effectively and this is one of them. I'm a little lost on that ending though. Terrifying and effective ending, but a bit confusing to me about what we were actually supposed to think was the cause of the epidemic.

still no news on DVD release in R1 yet?? :(

when they release it (hopefully) i wish we would get all of the extras from the 2-Disc Spain release (but in english subtitles)...that would be awesome!!

    on IMDB it says:

    "VudĂș. Extended Version"

I originally heard that it was going to come out at the same time as the Quarantine DVD, but it doesn't look like that's gonna be the case. Quarantine is available for pre-order on Amazon for a Feb. 17 release date- no sign of [rec] though.

I should just go ahead and pick up the Spanish import off Amazon since I'm all-region and it's not super expensive (~$23 + shipping) and I'm dying to finally see it. I just know the minute I do that Sony will announce a release date for a region 1 release, so I'm going to try to hold off just a while longer.

Do it! You won't regret it! (I'm even tempted myself to double dip, if the R1 release offers anything new)

edit (writing when tired is hard...): I mean, I have the Spanish import, and it is fantastic - I love the movie, and may buy the R1 release too.
