It's Carpenter's best directing job. And that's saying a lot.

I gave it a 10. It's just a brilliant piece of film making that barely nudges out Cronenberg's FLY for best remake.

Best horror movie ever made, which is all the more amazing in the fact that there's no females or nudity (which of course, are favorite parts of the genre for me and almost everyone else).
I can't rave enough, music, atmostphere, acting, setting, etc. etc. etc.
Also holds up well and still gives me chills despite seeing it dozens of times. Gore looks better than 98% of CGI crap today.
    Perfect 10!

Great movie! Kurt Russell was really hitting it back in those days. One of my favorites next to Evil Dead 2 and 'The Dead' trilogy. A 9.0 from me

When I first saw it, I remember it made an impact on me. Never cared for it as a whole. But there are pieces I like a lot. I still think my favorite thing in the whole movie (other than the music playing over the end credits and that very cool 'ripping' opening title image), is that moment where Chiles is jumping and shouting "cut me loose!" and Gary is looking at him strangely. It's so wrong but it's so funny.

I don't like the characters. Most of them don't have distinct personalities, they're just stereotypes. I don't like the special effects at all (they all look like blob and goo, they never seem to form anything).

When I see all this praise for the movie, I go completely blank about what I really like about it. But when I'm watching the movie, it's only half-bad. I enjoy some of it. But it's definitely overrated.

I thought I saw something on Dawn of the Discs about a 4k steelbook too. I assumed it was coming from Universal to most places around the globe.

I'm glad that Universal themselves are releasing this, as it will be cheaper, than if someone like Shout Factory released the movie.

It was rumoured to be their first UHD release, but it's been years since they last mentioned that, and their first release was Pitch Black instead.

Maybe they don't have the rights for the movie anymore, since Universal is releasing it by themselves now?

Maybe it was a title they didn't want to licence out for 4K.

This is why I mentioned print on a previous post, it will be interesting to see what's released.

I expect universal will release 'An American Werewolf In London' 4K disc shortly.

The only thing that sucks with Universal 4k discs is they never remember where you left off. Most other discs I can leave for weeks, months, years, go back to and it'll start playing immediately where I stopped it. In a lot of cases this ends up being the credits. Universal disc never do for some reason.

That’s a problem I’ve had ever since giving up DVDs. My last 3 blu ray players never remembered where I left off unless I remember to press the power button instead of stop. And even then it doesn’t work a lot of times.

Blu-ray's rarely work for me either. 4k have been pretty amazing at it though. Like I've put the disc away and come back to it months later for another watch and it's asking me if I want to resume where I last left off.
