He's been in a million things over the decades, but perhaps best known for Any Which Way You Can, Conan the Barbarian, Red Dawn, Hawaii Five-O, Rich Man, Poor Man. Not to mention genre films like Fast Company, Grave of the Vampire, Hell Comes to Frogtown, Maniac Cop, etc...

While I haven't seen any of his recent work I did look over his filmography and found that I've seen about a dozen of his movies. He appeared in quite a few TV programs as well which I'm sure I caught him in. My memories of him are from Grave of the Vampire and Invasion of the Bee Girls. RIP.

William Smith is one of my favorite character actors ever. Got to meet him & his wife once at an autograph show back in 2010. Such a nice guy. He talked to us about Any Which Way You Can and playing Falconetti in Rich Man, Poor Man. Got him to sign a fight scene photo from Any Which Way You Can. He even gave us a free glossy photo that he also signed for us from another film, Darker Than Amber. Only available as a bootleg as far as I can tell, Darker Than Amber is known for a really over the top fight scene between Smith & Rod Taylor in which they really did hurt each other. William told us this was one of his personal favorites from his filmography.

He will be missed, but never forgotten.

Even now that he's dead, he could still kick Will Smith's ass.

R.I.P. One of the great character actors with that distinctive gravelly voice and big presence. He elevated most everything he was in, from the A-grade to the Z-grade.
