I watch this "Night Breed: Director´s Cut" problem for long time and I can tell you that Clive only says same thing he said before two years - they search the material with cut 25min but they can´t find it because it´s lost somewhere and nobody knows where. :( So I doubt we will ever see it :(

This has been announced so many times. I'll believe it when I'm holding that DC DVD in my own hands.

"Fox also has a horror movie of mine called DREAD, from BOOKS OF BLOOD, that the writers have adapted really beautifully, so I believe that’s a high priority. The BOOKS OF BLOOD movies that I’m making with our company, Midnight Picture Show, are a high priority too. We’ll probably end up signing the contract soon, and hopefully we’ll be making movies by the early part of next year, so that will be two BOOKS OF BLOOD movies a year if all goes well."

    Excellent...

Yeah, I'll believe it when I see a release date. Until then, well, I've had my hopes up too many times over the years...

Wow, from that BD article, this is actually good news - a new Harry D'Amour book:

"I have a book of short stories that I’m publishing next year called THE SCARLET GOSPELS, which actually finishes with a long novella—or short novel depending on your definition—starring Harry D’Amour and the fellow with the pins in his head from the HELLRAISER movies. I am actually going to kill off Pinhead, so it’s going to be my dream come true, to finally give the guy a decent death. I suspect that will come in autumn of 2005."

I hope it's true, but I'll believe it when I see it. I've also been waiting on this forever.

Even if a director's cut never surfaces, it's still worth seeing in it's current form. Clive Barker is easily one of the best director's to ever work in the genre.

agreed but the lost footage is very appealing being that the movie it self i thought was a true masterpiece

Supposedly, this has been in works for quite a few years, with still no more actual results than, say, Blatty's own cut of "Legion".

A prototype of the box may have been designed, though:

Anyway, I do hope that if the director's cut does come out eventually, it will omit the ridiculous studio ending.

I have purposely waited on buying this film even though I love it, because I have been anticipating a better release!

Has anyone ever read Cabal, the "short" story Nightbreed is based on? It's the first (and, as of now, only) thing I read by Barker and I thought it was simply brilliant. He's such a great writer. The words just seemed to flow from the pages ... a really good story.

And yes, I'd also want to see a director's cut of Nightbreed. And Exorcist III. And Event Horizon for that matter. What happened to that one?!

Cabal is indeed a great written story. I haven't read anything by Barker that I didn't like, and that's been a lot of reading over the years!
