Ok, well that makes it pretty positive that I won't be ordering the $80 version. Just can't afford it right now andwill probably miss out on that version completely since I'm not going to be paying $150 or more when people put these up on Ebay. Too bad =(
They sold 1000 already? I'm going to hedge my bets and place an order through Shout. Seems as if they're still including a poster after 1k too. How many after 1k is anybody's guess however. I couldn't care less about a low number or not. If over the next 2-3 weeks they sell out (as some Twilight Time releases of this magnitude have) I will have secured my copy (with perhaps a nice poster). If it makes it to online retailers at a reasonable price point I can change horses.
It sure was. They never announced finding film elements and last we heard they thought lost. This was definitely an awesome surprise. I got to see a screening of the Cabal Cut but this new transfer is going to blow it away. Well the limited edition isn't limited to just Shout's store so I find the fact that they're taking another 1,000 to be a bit dodgy. Hopefully other retailers get a fair few of these because depending on the price I'll bite. Even if they shipped to Australia I wouldn't put $80 on this, that's crazy.
If Shout sells another 1k, they'll allocate the next 1k for their store. Guess what happens if that 1k sells out? And the next? That's business. You're betting that it doesn't. I'm not betting that it will, but I'm hedging my bet. It sucks that they charge $80 up front but it's manageable. I'd rather have the time to weight the options while I have a secured copy.
I hear ya. Who knows how this'll turn out. As much as I didn't really want to... I went ahead and pre-ordered one just to be on the safe side. If it shows up later on Amazon for lower $$, I'll just contact Shout to cancel the order. I've cancelled a couple of past orders with them (one just very recently) with no problems. Someone even asked on their Facebook page about how to cancel an order if they decided to, and they replied back. It's too damned expensive, but I would kick myself if I passed this up. :nervous:
...And the trend of financially raping the fans with an arbitrary "limited edition" moniker and price hike continues. Lost some respect for Shout! on this one.
I'm sure other online retailers will have it cheaper. Thankfully they're not forcing anyone to buy through them. The price is ridiculous though.
I always order direct from Shout! to get the limited edition posters. I've sold them all on eBay (the posters), and don't think I've gotten any less than $10 a piece for them. One sold for like $40, Night of the Demons maybe. Shout! ships them in a nice, sturdy cardboard sleeve that you can ship the poster out to a buyer in, too. Bottom line is I've actually saved money by buying direct and just unloading the posters. Hoping this is the case for this set, too.
I see this becoming a Fright Night fiasco real quick. I ordered odd their site last night. So 3,000 left to the various retailers and people at bluray.com ate chomping at the bit for it to show on Amazon. Sell out!
Jeesh. What a frenzy over such a lousy movie. I've never quite gotten the love for Nightbreed. I'm curious to see if an extended cut flows any better but I don't have high hopes for it.
That sounds like a good idea. I have a couple of their posters still in the envelope that I should sell-off. Thanks, this will help off-set that insane price.
They removed it because theyre servers want down. It will be back up. Follow them on facebook, and you should be able to find out when it will be back on sale.
It looks like Shout Factory has now reserved the first 2,500 copies (half the limited run) on their website for pre-orders.
