This one was lots of fun for me and my son. I'm bias towards anything 80s. Even so, I think it was well done. I hope there is a sequel.

I really enjoyed this, it was a little slow, which is my only little gripe, but once it gets going, wow, it's tense, especially the scenes towards the end. And the ending, WOW, knocked me for six! Definitely worth a viewing.

This was was too slow for my tastes. It felt like something that would have been better as a short story type of thing or a one hour episode of a show. I didn't enjoy the characters that much either but I guess they were trying to make them seem like real, ordinary 80's kids. It just wasn't my thing as it felt a little bland.

Thanks for the heads up, I was already going to subscribe this month because they have several new releases coming out (according to the Halloween calendar thread here), this is a nice bonus.

I stumbled across a good song from this movie. I guess I'll check it out one day. I didn't think it was a horror movie when I heard about it. But comparisons to The Burbs, which I love, and a few others make me interested a bit more.

The Burbs is a fantastic movie. This one not so much. Tonally they're totally different.

I saw a bit of the trailer I think or something about the movie on AintitCool a while back. That's when I thought it wasn't for me. We'll see one day. This is the song I found on one of the other forums. It's pretty good.

My limited "Retro Edition" German Blu-ray set arrived today, and it's really beautiful as far as the packaging goes. I look forward to finally watching the movie tonight!

#1451 is the number on my back cover, so I'm still not sure how many of these were made, but it must have been over 1,000 copies. It apparently still sold out however, and now commands $$$ on Ebay and Amazon.de through 3rd party sellers.

The "VHS packaging" is almost identical to the Stranger Things - Season 1 Blu-ray set that Target sold. Same magnetic clasp and disc holders as that did, but you get far more goodies (Soundtrack CD in it's own sleeve, Poster, Booklet, Photo Cards, Button) in this set.

Here are some YouTube unboxing videos of the set if anyone is interested:

Region locked, I assume? Might import the standard edition, since I assume the disc will be the same.

I'll check in a just bit to see about the region locking...

edit: I just tried the disc, and it gives an "Invalid Region" screen when my multi-region player is set to A, so the disc is most definitely region locked.

The included PAL DVD in the set is also region locked to "2"

    A few more disc details:

There are optional English subtitles offered for the main film as a set-up option.

The Audio Commentary on the Blu-ray is the "English" language one. I think the domestic BD-R had separate English & French language commentary tracks...but I have no idea how different those were.
