It looks... underwhelming and cliched. Like Craven lifted a scene from ANOES and planted it in here because he was out of ideas.

I was kind of digging the trailer; that is, until the music kicked in and we were informed that it was going to be in 3D. I'll most likely end up seeing this though as my girlfriend is a sucker for this type of thing.

I dunno, I thought it looked all right. Liked the falling-from-the-bridge moment.

The trailer music was awful and very 90s, though.

Looks very standard, nothing in the trailer piqued my interest at all.

Can anyone tell me if this was actually shot in 3-D or if it is getting that special after the fact 3-D/Greed-D conversion ? I don't wanna shell out for a hazy, dark looking marketing ploy.

Craven just tweeted the following: "Overseeing the 3D conversion of #MySoulToTake has been fascinating. See it in theaters October 8th."

    So it's a conversion ...

Yeah, the conversion was announced around May, I think, so it's gonna be a pretty quick conversion job. Looks like the studio is going to try to get every dime out of this one because they don't seem to have much faith in it (it was in the can well over a year ago).

I'm getting a Harper's Island vibe, that TV miniseries from last year.

I don't think this looks too bad, but I might wait for a DVD release.

I will most likely be enough of a sucker to see this in the theater.......hopefully I will be smart enough to resist what will undoubtedly be a poor 3-D conversion, but somehow I doubt it.

I think Craven finalized his cut late last year. Rogue and Relativity kept it shelved during the interim, and then probably decided to do a 3D conversion to make a quick buck.

The trailer was AWFUL IMO. Agree with the poster who said it felt very 90s.

I think it looks okay, although it does kind of have a Nightmare on Elm Street rip off vibe. Can you rip off your own movie? I agree with what others have stated about the trailer though, when that terrible music comes in it just reeks of the 90s. Hopefully it's just bad marketing.

Damn, 4 to 5 years of a wait, three title changes, and replacing the lead actor and this is the best Craven could muster out? And it's in 3D with a generic pseudo-metal soudtrack? Count me out.

Feels very: Glee and Twilight (the cast) mixed with Final Destination mixed with... The Faculty and Disburbing Behavior. I got that 90's vibe too. Late 90's. But the look is very now. Maybe a little Frailty too.

Wes Craven can still do a great horror movie. He just needs to ditch the Cursed-casting. Stop casting the pretty kids! Nobody likes them (show of hands- who here watches: Degrassi, Glee, Secret Life of an American Teenager, etc?).

I never got this gripe, save for maybe the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre, all of the movies we love from the 70's and 80's are chock full of pretty, attractive actors, most of which had very limited acting abilities. I guess people want to stare at ugly actors for an hour and a half. Whatever.

That said, the trailer is meh. It seemed pretty standard and kind of had a Nightmare on Elm St. 2 vibe to it.

You know- I actually agree about the 70's and 80's and have had that same reservation about other people's same gripes. When it was the 90's, that is, and films like Scream actually had high quality actors for all the marketing that may have started this trend. But frankly, we're so many years into this trend that now the actors are not being cast for ability. They are only being cast for their looks. That is it. And you expect that from, like I said- Degrassi, Glee, and Secret Life of an American Teenager. We shouldn't expect that from horror, which is a genre that used to have a lot more substance to it.
