I came here to chew bubblegum and get My Bloody Valentine released uncut on DVD ... and I'm all out of bubblegum.
I sent my email to general-inquiries@lionsgate.com Hopefully someone important will get that. Otherwise, we're just gonna have to send hand-written letters via registered mail. ~Matt
Sent another e-mail to the new address. Hey, what can it hurt? No such thing as overkill on a campaign like this. Rhett, you've remained silent. You'd better be writing an e-mail. Do it FOR HOLLIS, dammit!
probably buy it anyway just to check the deleted scenes and documentary, I've double/triple dipped for a lot less
Hopefully all that are emailing arent saying how they are ok with the footage just being an extra and will buy it that way. :eek2:
They better not be. We've waited too long for an uncut edition. They have the footage, just put it back into the film.
Why would they be saying that? We're trying to get the UNCUT version here, get the footage placed back INTO the film. ~Matt
Amen. I sent to both addresses. I suggested that, in the worst situation, they could push the release date back to go along with the DVD release of the remake.
That's exactly what I said too. I even ended it with, "Please don't disappoint us the way Paramount has done all these years." ~Matt
Well, it was a fun pipe dream while it lasted. Here's the response I got from Lionsgate: It looks like I (or someone else) will be fanediting this to make the uncut version.
Lets at least hope the quality of the Deleted footage will good enough to integrate back into the film.
As long as the footage is watchable and in widescreen, it can be re-integrated. Even if it's 4x3 widescreen, there are programs to turn it into 16x9. If it's in fullframe, it'll have to be cropped to match aspect ratios and that may cut off useful information. Worst though, it could be like Paramount's uncut footage from Friday the 13th on their From Crystal Lake to Manhattan box set and be a side-by-side comparison featurette. We'll just have to wait. Still, I wonder what their logic behind being "unable to make an uncut version of this movie for the release" is. In my original e-mail, I told them that fans would be fine with lesser quality inserts, especially if they included the theatrical version and / or a disclaimer.
My responce: Dear Consumer, Thank you for contacting the LIONSGATE customer Service Department. From what I've been told we were unable to make an uncut version of this movie for the release. The Special Edition will include uncut scenes, but it will be separate from the movie itself. As of now there are no immediate plans to release on BluRay but that could always change. We are very excited to be able to share with you the Special Edition and hope you enjoy the extra features. Thank you for your enthusiasm and patronage to LIONSGATE films! -Lionsgate Ent
Which emailed worked? Because I want to ask, unless you asked already, that if the scenes on the dvd will be actually the cut gore scenes. Because John Dunning is the only person with that footage. And is that where Lionsgate got the scenes for the dvd extras. Because if not, then these "extra scenes" are not the 9 minutes of solid gore that was cut. Dunning has all the gore/kill scenes. He doesn't have the extra dialog / scenery scenes. I hope thats not what Lionsgate is adding. Along with the trailer probably.
