UPDATE http://www.shocktillyoudrop.com/news/topnews.php?id=8216 CONFIRMS LOST FOOTAGE YESSSSSSSSSSSSS
Lost footage as a special feature but not inserted back into the film? If that's the case then I will pass, thank you.
I am so happy the 'lost' footage has been found. Been waiting for years. I will be picking this one uup for sure.
I sure hope it's edited back into the film. This is one slasher that would benefit greatly from an "Unrated" cut
Can't say I'm too surprised. It seemed too good to be true. I will not be buying this again until the footage is put back into the film. Hell, it doesn't even say that the Lost Footage is gore--it could be some character development scenes or sub plots that got axed.
They should make it like the Director's Cut of Commando. Use seamless branching if you want to watch the movie with unrated parts put back in. The lost scenes would have to be gore, Lionsgate would never live it down if they lost this opportunity to finally let the fans see this footage. Can;t wait. For me this is the holy grail of lost footage, I have wanted this for so many years ...... I can almost taste it !
Well yeah, I'll wait until a review is done. If it ain't got the gore then no sale. But cmon, has there been a movie where they released a special edition with missing footage/deleted scenes where the supposed lost gore was still not there? I'd be interested to know - I can't think of any off the top of my head.
i'm still gettin in!!! I was greatly impressed with The Monster Squad disc Lionsgate did. so i will most definatly be getting this!! i just seriously want to see this classic uncut!!
Nah, that's cheap. If I can do it seamlessly with Sony Vegas then these guys would come across pretty rookie if they used that excuse. I would think it would be if the lost footage is of seriously inferrior quality and they don't want to do the Silent Night Deadly Night thing.
Yeah, I don't buy that cost thing either. The footage is there, just do it. It isn't tough. I'll do it for them pro bono if it's a time or cost issue.
I just emailed their video site's customer assistance to inquire about a release date for preorder, possible stats and format availability. I doubt they are the right people but it could generate a buzz. lionsgateshop@orderassistance.com
Yeah, I don't see why they couldn't just edit the footage back in. Even if it's in rough shape, they could at least give the option of watching the R-rated and unrated versions of the film. I mean, all they'd have to do is transfer the footage from the film stock to an editing program, and since they've already got the film itself transferred for telecine work, all it would take would be to cut and paste the footage back into the film through...say...Final Cut Pro? I mean, come on. But hey, can anybody do this? I'd be willing to pay someone to insert the footage back into the movie, and do a decent job at it lol. ~Matt
That's what I was thinking. Now that would be a slap in the face to us fans. I still say the edit the footage back in, it can't be that hard.
I knew there was something positive of them remaking the orginial. Now we get the UNCUT footage. If this remake was not happening, our chances of getting the UNCUT footage at all would have been slim to none.
