That's a sweet ad, though. (I mean, stylistically)

I wasn' t just talking about F13th Part 7. If you read my post correctly I was talking about all the films you seemed to "know" about footage being lost. I have the F13th boxset with the footage and know what the Director said about it !

I "know" about the footage being lost because it IS lost. If you read my posts, you'd see that I said there's a difference between footage being "lost" and "destroyed". I know of these films (and their footage) being lost because it's well-known that these films are lost. They have yet to be found. They're not GONE, but merely missing.

Everyone knew 1/3 of Metropolis was missing, it's well-known that Murnau's 4 Devils is lost, it's well-known that the original negatives for Sunset Boulevard and Singin' in the Rain were accidentally destroyed. What's your point?

Yeah, it'd be nice to have a commentary track and some more extras--but I'd buy this fucker barebones and be quite happy. :D

Not without original film stock. The footage isn't even in widescreen (it wouldn't match up with the rest of the film.) You can't properly remove scanlines from VHS because scanlines distort and blur part of the image. You can't remaster video footage like you can film stock. There's absolutely no comparison.

Guys, just heard the breaking news! Negatives from Singin in the Rain, which were once thought to have been destroyed, have been found!........Wait, do you hear that? Indeed, that would be instantly recognizable sound of no one giving a shit. Now, anyone fancy talkin about horror movies again?

  10. As far as "lost" films go. I wish someone would find London After Midnight, that one has always been a curiosity for me.

Actually, this one might possibly bear the distinction of having been "destroyed". The only known print that existed was in a vault at MGM, but was destroyed in a fire in 1967. (This was the same fire that destroyed the original negative of Singin' in the Rain.)

I'd love to see this one, though.

It's nice to see some of the cut scenes in the background.
Well it doesn't actually say anything about branching. Hopefully it's just badly worded.

Well yeah it's definitely gonna be branched. It's not like they'd put two whole versions of the film onto the disc, they'd be compressed like crazy. You'll have the R-rated version, and then the unrated version with the cut scenes branched into the main film. Branching's the only way to do it, unless they were to ONLY include the unrated version.

Which they really should. It's not like anyones going to want to watch the cut version, why give the option?

I dunno, it gives people the chance to see the difference between the two versions. (People who have never seen the movie before and are only buying it because they're interested in the remake...really which is the only reason this movie's GETTING a special edition.)

People who don't know about the cuts now aren't going to really care about them by comparing versions. It should just be uncut, no other option. I mean if they really wanted to show the difference between the versions they could make a whole featurette based on it.

Oh well, we're getting it uncut. That's the main point here.

There's nothing wrong with branching the 2 different versions.

Well I did hear branching causes slight pauses between the switching scenes.

The only time I noticed a slight pause with branching was with the Region 2 Robocop boxset when you had the option to watch the Theatrical or Uncut Version, just before and after the uncut scenes there was a slight pause which was a bit annoying. Guess we' ll just have to wait and see with this one.
