A lot of good titles have already been mentioned - but my all time favorite unfortunately-underrated horror film has got to be

    Neil Jordan's IN DREAMS

I can't imagine a more perfect melancholy-dreamlike-atmospheric-intense-adult horror film. I was impressed when I first saw it and continue to be impressed by it with each subsequent viewing.

There was an article about underrated horror films on Roger Ebert's site (although not written by Ebert himself) http://rogerebert.suntimes.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20041014/ESSAYS/41014002

It mentioned In Dreams (along with The Tenant, The Brood and Prince of Darkness) and I was so happy I just wanted to run outside and tell people about it! And now's my chance! :D See this film!!

The one underrated film I really I like:

    House on Haunted Hill remake

I think a lot of people frown upon it because of the actors involved and the CGI, but there are some really cool set pieces and creepy/artsy sequences. I generally hate remakes with a passion and I really like the original but surprisingly enough, I enjoyed it.

I'll also agree with Ravenous being a very underrated film.

  7. Beyond the Door , i myself believe this is a true horror classic . One of the most scariest films ever made , i notice it has bad reviews saying that it's one of the worst films ever . I bet film cridits did'nt even sit through the whole movie , as they where scared shitless . Why can't they just release this horror classic to DVD , i'm still waiting for a release date .

I just have to mention He Knows You're Alone in this thread... probably the most underrated slasher EVER.

Session 9. It's in my horror Top 10.

People seem to like it these days (IMDB 6.6/10), but it wasn't even released in theaters in most countries.

Same goes for Brad Anderson's new film Machinist: Great cast, voters like it (7.5/10), limited U.S. distribution.

I definately agree with In the Mouth of Madness and Dagon. Two great underrated films. And speaking of Stuart Gordon films another one I want to mention is From Beyond. I wait for the day it gets a proper R1 release.

I guess the most underated for me would be The Entity. That darn movie still creeps me out when i watch it! (Crappy VHS). I guess I'll have to check The Sentinel out, haven't seen that one.

The Fog and Deadly Blessing for sure, more recently Route 666 was dumb but fun and worth seeing I thought.

Some GREAT choices here... One that hasn't been mentioned (I think) is Roman Polanski's THE TENANT.
