You can move the game console and cable box when dusting and empty that garbage right now! :)

  12. Thanks for the info, YottNik! Again, very nice set up, bro.

Grim: Whoa, nice one! I'm likin' the original Friday the 13th poster framed, as well as the smaller daybill poster. I mostly own high quality re-prints (again, mostly) framed, but I'm always glad that someone else is helping to keep the almight Voorhees legacy alive in the land of hangin' up posters. :D

Aside from some general dusting you gotta do, of ocurse, tiss a very nice set up.

Prey: Whoa, again, very nice one dude. So is the set LCD or Plasma? And what make & model speakers are those? They look fuckin' great! That media center TV stand & table does a great job of hiding the reciever's and players. May I ask where ya got it? I assume an up-scale funiture store.

Yeah the posters ain't nothing compared to the shrine I have set up on my dresser. Dolls, action figures, matchbox cars, playing cards, shot glasses, the NES game, bobbleheads, etc.

  14. You lucky devil, you :D HUGE fan of the legacy (especially of the first 8 Paramount-era films) from Mr. Voorhees here.

Thatsa Panny Plasma. Professional model - made really for being a monitor.

The speakers are Magnepans - thin thin ribbon speakers. Great for live music.

Yeah, it took me a while to fine a nice cabinet to hide everything (and one the wife would approve of :)). I actually got it at Pier 1. They actually had two I liked, but the "asian look" one I got hid everything better. It was relatively inexpensive.

When I bought my house back in 2003, I was lucky enough to have an unfinished basement. So I had a nice room built to host a dedicated HT. 3 years later, I finally could buy pretty much all the equipment to get that room to good use.

A few months ago, I started a DIY project to upgrade the room to "HT 2.0" adding darker colors on the walls and building a big wall to wall bookcase at the back for all my books, magazines, some figures (18'' NECA Part VII Jason FTW!), DVDs (with room to expand) and video games. I am finally done and really happy about it! As a matter of fact, I am filling my bookcase and DVD storage right now between posts.

I just finished hooking everything up a few days ago. Everything spent a few months in boxes and I was really getting fed up of the old 27''.

Here's a list of the AV gear in my HT room (version 2.0):

    - Panasonic AX200U Projector
    - 100'' Carada Screen (brand new, bought for HT room revamp)
    - Denon AVR-2807 receiver
    - Paradigm Reference Studio 20 (L / R speakers)
    - Paradigm Reference CC-470 (Center)
    - Paradigm PDR-12 subwoofer
    - Paradigm Atom (L/R surrounds and L/R back surrounds)

    - Denon DVD-1930 CI dvd player
    - Sony PS3 (for blu-rays and gaming, mostly Rock Band)
    - Sony PS2
    - Nintendo Wii (for the kids and pretty much everyone else but me ;)
    - Microsoft XBox (modded to use XBMC)
    - Pioneer CLD-D503 Laserdisc player

I should have pics soon after my bookcase is filled.

  17. Merci becoupe, Prey mon ami. :D

The Magnepans speakers look awesome! Yup, I would assume good tunes sound even better belted out of'em. I looked around they're site, and sadly, the only place down here in Louisiana that carries'em is listed as New Orleans, and I honestly hate that fuckin' place. Ah well; in a few years, when I move to the central satte capital of Austin, Texas which is like a Cinephile's paradise, I'll fully up-grade my home theater equipment, cause there'll be plenty of places there.

Mean while: Just Pier 1 Imports, huh? Too cool. I'll have to see if I can find one close by for a look, cause I always remembered likin' their stuff!

    And TheShape:

Dude, awesome set up there! Can't wait to see the photos. So glad this thread here has taken off. :)

I finally had a chance to take some pictures and upload them -

the DVD towers are about 60" tall; the TV is 26".

The speakers are meant to be mostly hidden from view while watching TV -
this is the view while sitting on the couch:

and here is an alternate view of the TV stand and towers:

(the speaker wire in the second pic is going to the rear speaker - I'm hoping to hide it better eventually, behind/around artwork and a hanging room divider-curtain).

The wire on the floor goes to the recliner (heat/massage).

The DVD towers are 18" square, and naturally as I was planning the setup I forgot to account for the diagonal length, to allow them to rotate... so right one only one can rotate at a time, since I didn't have enough space to move them any further apart. That's also why the TV is pushed up against the desk. Any further and the tower would block the doorway into the bedroom.

  19. Wonder photos there, msw7! Wonderful clarity in both pics. Nice, really awesome media rack towers for the DVDs ya got there.
