Both take place in the same general area and both have a documentary like feel to them. Which do you prefer?

Texarkana is one fucked up place! Monsters, serial killers, and rednecks, oh my:cry:

...with both purported to be true and all (Town actually based on a real serial killer, Boggy based purely on legend), they both have a creepy quality to them.

In Town, I was afraid of the killer. In Boggy, I was afraid for the monster.

I like both but Town That Dreaded Sundown a bit better. I wish that one was on DVD, plus Legend of Boggy Creek needs a better DVD release as well.

I saw Legend of Boggy Creek a long, long time ago so I can't remember much about it, and I've never seen The Town That Dreaded Sundown. Hopefully it will get released on DVD one of these days.

    Err... where's the poll? :p

The Town That Dreaded Sundown definitely for me. I always found The Legend of Boggy Creek to be quite overrated. It's not bad, but I never really understood its appeal.

Boggy Creek vs. Town That Dreaded Sundown

Good idea for a poll. I love those two psuedo-documentary intrigues by Charles B. Pierce. I went with Sundown since I've watched it much more over the years, and the potato sack has been a much larger source of childhood fright than the Boggy Creek monster. Still haven't seen Boggy Creek II, though, although it sounds like that's for the better. :D

    Poll added.

    Cool thanks a lot Rhett.

I gotta go with Sundown too... The threat is much higher in that one.

One of my favorite guilty pleasures. It is bad alright but not the worst ever made.
I end up watching it at least once a year, equipped with bologna sandwiches and a can of pork 'n ' beans. Boggy Creek II made me appreciate this classic camping food again :)

Boggy Creek for me. I don't think either film is close to perfect, but I prefer Bigfoot to crazy killer.

I really like both films a lot, but Boggy Creek is more nostalgic for me. Shoot, I even checked out Pierce's Native American/ pioneer/ wilderness films Greyeagle and Winterhawk from the library and made copies of them.

Does anybody like The Evictors?? I have the old Vestron video. I doubt this makes it to DVD.

I love both of these films. Both are classics and I have fond memories of both from my teenage years, but I had to give a slight edge to Town, although I really like Boggy Creek as well.

Seems like I saw THE EVICTORS at the drive-in.I know I saw WINTERHAWK in the theater as a young kid.As I recall Pierce also did THE NORSEMEN with Lee Majors,a Vikings vs. Indians pic starring the Bionic Man.

Pierce also made Bootleggers with Jacklyn Smith. I was going to order the DVD made by VCI, but it seems to have been discontinued.
