He signed my Halloween blu-ray on Friday and he was back at the convention on Sunday so I think he's okay now or at least I hope so. It was a real pleasure to meet him - he was quiet but seemed appreciative when I told him I loved his movies. I felt bad for him though because he did not draw very many fans. Robert Englund had huge lines wrapping out the doors of the convention center and John Carpenter couldn't even muster up 10 people at a time at his line whenever I was in the autograph room. Pretty sad.
I wish John Carpenter all the best. That is a sad story. JC is my favourite Director but as I live in Scotland there's not much chance of me getting to any coventions he's at. It would be amazing to meet the man and get his autograph personally. I thought he would have had loads of fans!
So did I! Other fans I ran into kept saying they thought it was because he was in the back of the room and that people didn't see him but if John Carpenter is suppose to be at a convention (and actually is) - I would take the time to find him! I was just really surprised. Then I heard some people saying he wasn't very friendly but that wasn't my impression at all - I mean the man is old and wasn't feeling well - not sure what they were wanting.
John Carpenter is pretty amazing in my book. Most folks who have a medical issue would probably never dream of returning to sign autographs two days later. I hope he is feeling better. He is a class act!!
It's really cool that he returned to the convention. No matter how minor, this had to be a scare for him. Glad he's OK.
If he came to the UK he would be mobbed by fans, Huge, Huge fanbase over here. Perhaps we can get him for Collectermania or Memorabilia NEC
He's got my best wishes. Never got to meet him, but wish I could. He directed my favorite version of The Thing.
I met John Carpenter at the New Jersey Monster Mania convention in Aug. There were long lines for him, and you had to wait on line then in 2 holding areas before you got to him. he was very friendly and made small talk with me and my friends. I have waited for over 20 years to finally meet the man and i was not disappointed!
Ya I snaped this photo of him on Friday and saw him again on Sunday. Didn't hear anything about this until this morning.
