Island Of the Fishmen - Sergio Martino

I haven't seen the movie since the 1980's so I don't recall specifics. However, I'm always a fan of longer or different versions getting released. Optimally multiple versions available on the same release would be best but I'll still be picking this up even though I have the Screamers blu-ray.

 

We are definitely in the same boat. And thanks for posting about this new release. It gave me time to research so luckily I did not panic sell my copy of the current Screamers disc. I really didn't want to sell my Screamers disc because the cover is what I grew up seeing at the video store. Yet, the upcoming longer version will still make for fun Sunday afternoon viewings, anyway.

I recently bought the Cineploit Blu-ray MediaBook when Diabolik got a few in stock. They only had "Cover C" but there are 5 cover variants.



I have a few other Cineploit releases, and they are always very English friendly as far as the Disc Menu, Booklet, Extras.

The front of the MediaBook has some nice looking spot varnish elements on it, and the back covers are all # stamped (mine is #321). A Poster is additionally included inside the MediaBook.

The Running Time is 1:38:57 (99 Minutes) — so it is fully uncut. The language options are German, English, Italian. There are optional English subtitles for the Italian track.

As far as Bonus Features, there are 3 Featurettes:

1. features all of the Separate US scenes that were filmed + English credit sequences (18 minutes) — HD
2. features Joe Dante & Miller Drake in conversation (19 minutes) — HD
3. features Sergio Martino, Luciano Martino & Massimo Antonello (59 minutes w/ optional English subtitles) — SD upconvert

"Soundtrack" option that plays 53-minutes in length.

I have yet to view anything fully yet, but just scanning through the disc... the HD transfer (I assume the same one Full Moon has access to) looks very nice and takes up almost 29GB of the BD-50 disc.

So I seriously doubt the Full Moon Blu-ray will hold a candle to this release in any way. I'm sure that will just be a BD-25 disc and only offer lossy audio.
