Read this from the imdb.com:
that's awesome, now other studios need to do the same.
Sounds great to me, they'll probably be DVD-R's but what the hell, good enough for me. My only concern would be with current DVDs that are modestly selling, they may discontinue those all together to be replaced by these cheap quickies.
So what does Sony still have that's not out on DVD? I need to make a shopping list to hammer HP with once they start up.
This news is awesome as hell!!
Requests anyone? My main one would be to Fox/MGM: Greydon Clark's WITHOUT WARNING.
I don't know about Sony...I'd have to research what they might have
The news is rather vague, as it's "Can't Find a DVD" and not "Can't Find a Movie". I'm unsure whether this means ANYTHING in Sony's vast collection, or simply their OOP DVD's. I know that Sony has a ton of OOP discs, some only released 2-3 years ago...pulled due to limp sales.
It would certainly cost money to do transfers of films not yet on DVD, unless they somehow have adequate digital transfers of their full catalog of films.
Four words: Night Of The Creeps
I'm assuming they do based on the number of movies that play on popular and obscure HD movie networks amongst other things. Whether or not the transfers would be decent is obviously hard to say, but you can probably assume that Sony and other studios have a lot of their stuff transferred to digital already.
The main thing I want to see here is an extensive list of all the movies Sony owns the rights to.
