Lionsgate will release Highlander on Blu-Ray November 2nd!:

    http://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=4971

"An early announcement to retailers indicates that Lionsgate Home Entertainment is set to release the 1980s action/adventure/fantasy movie Highlander on November 2. There is no information regarding technical specification or special features at this time. This movie was released in the UK in 2009 and it became a heavily imported title (especially in its now-out of print SteelBook edition)."

Great news, but I don't know if I'll be able to part with my Immortal Edition with the metal case. Even if I buy this.

Hopefully it'll be the nice price, which seems to be the case with most Lionsgate titles. This years remaining slate of releases just got a little better.

YYEEESSS!!! Like a fool, I didn't get the UK steelbook and was kicking myself! I hope this is as good a transfer as the UK edition, but I also hope it has all the extras!! This is one film I've constantly upgraded. I have 2 VHS copies and 2 DVDs!!

I'm assuming it will be identical to the UK release, since it's controlled by Studio Canal (which now has a distribution deal with Lionsgate, which is why some Criterion titles like went OOP very quickly).

aw, bummer. the quickening version was so bad, its like plan nine from outer space. you just can't tamper with stuff like that. as far as im concerned, the immortals will always be from some far off desert planet.

Interesting information regarding Highlander 2. I've always hated the film so I've never bothered to inquire about what the differences are between the cuts, but now I am intrigued! That said, I won't buy part 2. The only sequel I'd even consider would be Highlander: Endgame, and it'd have to be $9.99 or less.

Endgame is the only other one I have as well and I bought it for $10 on DVD. I wouldn't upgrade it to Blu, but I like the film!

I saw Highlander 2 in the theater in New York when it opened. I was wondering why the theater was mostly empty, and then the movie started. It was torture to sit through it, but I was basically too griefstricken and dumbstruck to get up and leave.

one of my failings in life apparently is that I've not seen any Highlander film.

Since my Immortal Edition somehow got lost (I lent it out and it disappeared, although I'm still friends with the guy who had it last and still have the metal cover) this is a no brainer to pick up the first. I can't stand any version of part 2 I've seen, which is a shame as it should be at least decent, but just isn't.
Plus this will probably $10 or less on release date, or shortly thereafter.

I'm not sure it's a different transfer (same international cut), but yeah, I think I'm going with the UK Blu for the extras also. I can order it shipped new for under $15.

Lionsgate usually shafts their StudioCanal licensed titles for some reason.

I don't understand the low rating for PQ from Blu-Ray.com. There must be artifacts in motion or something of that nature (though that's not what they describe in the review) as all of the screencaps seem to indicate a transfer far above average for material of this vintage.

The screenshots look good to me too. Lionsgate even utilizes the same Menu "sword" style as the UK Blu-ray. It's just very strange that they chose not to add the additional extra features. It could have been a licensing problem I suppose — but this is licensed directly from StudioCanal, so I greatly doubt it. Even the "Director's Cut" DVD that Lionsgate came out with a year or two ago had the Trailer included at least.

That review also would have benefitted from stating if the Deleted Scenes were 1080p as the UK Blu-ray is.
