Thought I'd start this thread because I came across this on Fangoria:
    http://fangoria.com/home/news/9-film-news/1261-producer-talks-my-bloody-valentine-sequel-more-remakes.html

It's both good and bad. We know that there's interest in producing a special edition of the film, and that the uncut footage is not being dubbed as 'lost'. Bad thing is there's no interest from the studio.

    Email time?

Petitions also. I've never seen this movie but I'm down.

Same. Sounds awesome to me, and I wouldn't mind my first viewing of it be uncut!

At least there's no remake in the works.

Crap. *sigh* Good news about a remake, however. I wouldn't want one. Would love to have seen the original in a revamped form.

Well a remake would probably make them put out an uncut version of the film, so in the end it would probably be a good thing. Can't see them ever re-releasing an obscure horror film just for the fun of it.

I can write something up. I'll post a template of it up here before making the actual petition.
That's what I thought too. Fangoria made the impression that by not having one in the works, that was a bad thing.
That may be true, but hopefully just petitions and email will be sufficient enough to get this released in a special edition form.

I doubt any of these companies, especially one as large as Columbia, will pay any attention to online petitions or email campaigns.

I'd double dip on Happy Birthday to Me if they re-released it uncut and with the original soundtrack.

I like it very very much.....

I would like to see the uncut version because the film only got a 15 rating on DVD over here

I could care less. Didn't buy it when it was first released on dvd..and that stupid cover they gave it instead of using the original artwork. Not a fan of this film.

The original art was used for the insert with the DVD however.

I'll be signing ANY petition as soon as it pops up. A classic 80's slasher that needs to be rescued from the greedy, tampering hands of the big-wigs.

Sony wouldn't even consider paying the money to get the rights for the original music in the film, which is basically what they informed me through an email (not in as many words) when it first came out on DVD. I seriously doubt we'll see a Special Edition from them.

It was one of my favorites when I was younger, and thankfully that haunting title song was left intact.

Yeah, the original soundtrack should be one of the main priorities.

Does anybody know what are the uncut scenes are? I remember Video Screams offered an import version years ago, but I never got around to ordering it. They didn't offer it for very long. Columbia probably found out about it.

I think I read somewhere that Bernadette's throat slicing was longer and you saw the guy's face get ripped up on the motorcycle wheel. There might have been extended brain surgery scenes too.

How this sound for a petition?
    Happy Birthday to Me

This petition is directed to Columbia Pictures to release an Uncut Special Edition of Happy Birthday to Me (1981). It has come to our attention that producer John Dunning has shown interest in having such an edition released. We as horror fans encourage you to pursue this project in releasing the film as it was intended to be seen. That would mean:
    • A fixed audio soundtrack, as the track on the previous release was different and less compelling than the theatrical track.
    • An uncut print, as some of the scenes suffered a few minor cuts.

    Please reconsider this release.

Yes, I think it is petition time. I would love to see the uncut scenes even if the crappy fixed soundtrack is still used. I never thought Paramount would make a deal with Lionsgate for MBV. I hope the bigwigs at Sony/ Columbia would be nice enough to do the same with HBTM. The scenes still must exist!! I bought my HBTM DVD for $3.00 at a Big Lots store awhile back.
