I've been waiting for 2011 for a while because I'm hoping that a special edition of the original as well as a re-issuance of the sequel will finally be available to tie in with the re-make. But so far, no news has been out regarding any DVD or Blu-Ray release. If this is going to happen, anyone here have any guess when it will be announced? It would be very disappointing if they release the remake without the original in SE or the sequel on DVD or Blu-Ray.

It would be dumb for them to not to re-release the original to coincide with the remake. Cast members had already confirmed in the past that they had created new special features for a new release so it's really only a matter of time.

Well the remake comes out on August 19 as per http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1438176/ so I would expect a Blu-ray release in the first half of August. As for when would it be announced, probably in May or June.

I know I want the original in HD!

I would be stoked if they reissued the soundtrack at some point.

I gave up on waiting for that a long time ago and found it on a bittorrent website. It could use a remastering, though.

I already own the complete soundtrack on CD. I would be stoked if they did rerelease Fright Night, but with commentary with William Ragsdale, and hopefully, if it was recorded for a SE release, also with Roddy McDowell, before he passed away. This would be great.

It would be cool to get both Fright Nights on blu-ray.

Hard to believe that there still isn't a special edition for this classic.

I can most studios don't value their horror classics like we do. Case in point look how much hounding & time it took Paramount to do a Friday box set & still didn't get it right.

The funny thing is that this wasn't just some box office bomb that became a cult classic on home video. This film made a good profit and it had an, albeit minor, impact on pop culture.

I'll agree on the first box set, but I think with the recent special editions, they basically did about the best they can in terms of finding all surviving footage. Still, they need to port the rest of the films over to blu-ray.

This and the remake of NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD are available in HD through the Xbox Live Marketplace.

Just got done watching NOTLD - it's a fantastic transfer, every detail pops and colors are natural and realistic. Can't believe THIS hasn't been released anywhere on Blu either.

FRIGHT NIGHT is on the slate for tomorrow. I do know Sony did two HD masters of it, one for television and few years back and one recently - same with NOTLD - not sure which is on Xbox but I'll take a peak at it tomorrow and give my thoughts on it.

Do you know what is that thing Evil Ed has in his room (to the right back in the picture like a Dracula bitting a girl)?? It looks like a 3D thing or something... Anyone?

Looks like a Dracula hologram. Holograms were huge in the 80's.
