I'll raise you Sleepaway Camp Part 3, Angela's 80s hair. It just adds to how crazy she is in the movie.

I think I've seen bits and pieces a bunch of times. I know once I started watching from the beginning and stopped around the first body possession scene as I thought that was stupid. Also I can't remember if I was seeing uncut or TV versions. These days I like to make sure to see horror movies uncut. But I know I saw a scene perhaps halfway in that made me stop watching as I was completely disgusted with what I saw. I think that was one of those times I was watching bits and pieces. I know a have a bit against it too because Erin Gray is in it and I don't know why. I always liked her in the old Buck Rogers TV show. I guess I'll try again though if it's on uncut during October. I checked on demand and they only have Part 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, and 8 up for free. I don't know why 5 isn't on demand for free for me.

    Yes!

I love me some Jason Goes to Hell. I think it's a lot of fun. Stupid, cheap, ridiculous, yes...... but I love it. I only own it on VHS uncut.....

Is VHS the only official uncut version? I need to go back but I remember we were talking about the uncut version or how that one guy that used to show up here was working on or released an unofficial uncut version.

No the dvd had the uncut version but strangely they only put the tamer cut version on Bluray. That member here had made a HD copy of the uncut version.

I tried watching this on Netflix not long ago and fell asleep. Sadly the version on there is cut too. I'm not a big fan of this one though. There's some cool ideas here but the body jumping is lame and feels cheap. The beginning and end are the main highlights from memory.

It seems Shout Factory is now mining the WB vaults, which gives reason to think they would have access to New Line titles as well. Maybe we'll get SE's of the NOES series and their Jason movies.

Honestly, given the scope of the Warner / New Line catalogue, I'd rather see Scream Factory go after movies that aren't already available on blu-ray.

Since they put some effort into their horror releases I would like to see what they come up with for Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street.

Same here. Would easily beat what they have out now for those franchises.

There are lots of films that haven't been released on dvd even....

As for the Friday franchise it would have to be something extraordinary for me to buy these again.

Yeah I’m not buying Friday the 13th again. I only watch parts 1-8 anyway. Unless they release the uncut versions, that would give me incentive but it seems that the footage no longer exists. So...

What else could we add? Commentaries? Interviews? Pointless. With the Crystal Lake Memories book and doc, you don’t need any more special features for these movies. They’ve been discussed to death. I don’t think there’s anything about these movies that I don’t already know. I guess they could give each film its own disc, but the movies already have very good A/V I’m not sure a whole lot could come from even another remastering. I’d rather them put out stuff that hasn’t been put out already, or stuff that’s in a serious need of an upgrade.

99.9% agreement. The only caveat being that I would snap up blus of JGTH (uncut, of course) and X as I do enjoy them more than VII and VIII.

They could at least give us 1 and 5 uncut. We know those are doable.

At this point, I've seen every Jason flick 20+ times each pretty much, and as mentioned previously, there's nothing I don't know or seen of any of them. I want NEW Jason movies to come out......good or not, Jimmy crack corn, just give me Jason stalking motherfuckers.....

Alright, I didn't want to start a new thread. I'm actually embarrassed to ask this question. We got experts here. And yes, I consider myself one of those.

    Here we go:

I'm having this discussion. About Friday the 13th and Jason.

The debate. In the first film(or story) . Did Jason die(drown) in the first film or not?

I'm saying he didn't. I got this other person swearing up and down that he did die, and was in hell. I'm like what the F?

He's saying what we learned in Freddy vs Jason, that Jason died and his mother brought him back. I'm going, dude... that was Freddy in that movie manipulating Jason. It's a story they made up to put these to guys in one film. Am I crazy here? That's the whole point of Friday the 13th and the sequels. Jason witnessed his mother getting her head cut off...you know the rest.

His defense: I wrote what he said the best I could...

Second film Jason is reunited with his mother in hell and his mother tells him to rise and kill to make sure Crystal lake doesn’t reopen. You don’t see this on screen through out the movie but what we see it in FvsJ. The mother is in hell with him and tells him to rise, your work is not finished yet. Even though it’s Freddy who morphed into his mother the instruction is clear. Only the mother has Jason’s ear since he is really a 12 year old boy at heart who drowned and was alone in hell and needed his mother to guide him as any boy would.

The original film's plot clearly is based around the fact that Jason drowned in 1957 at the negligence of the counselors, hence why Pamela Vorhees exacts revenge on the counselors. The sequel obviously re-writes the trajectory/backstory of Jason, much like Halloween II introduces the brother-sister relationship between Lorie and Michael. Neither of these things that would go on to define the rest of the franchise - Jason as the killer / Michael's relationship to Laurie - were never originally intended in the original films, thus it is simply fan-based theory so they can connect these changes back to the original film even though that was not the original intent. As to the Freddy vs. Jason bit, yes, that is Freddy toying with/manipulating Jason's memories.

Camp Crystal Lake is not only jinxed. It is CURSED. So many bad things happened there since the beginning that ANY evil thing can happen on those grounds. Jason becoming an actual threat after having died decades prior cannot be explained away in logical terms.
Personally, I think Jason died just as Mrs. Vorhees explained it. After her own violent death, evil found a way to re-manifest itself in the physical realm. Who knows how. I think much death, mutilation and general desperation permeated throughout that area and must have created just the right conditions to seed itself into actual, physical creation.
Some say there is much truth to old legends and tales of unexplained terrors.
Who knows how it happened - but it did. Jason became...and he can't be killed.

Yeah, if you look at the original film on it's own then it's pretty safe to say Jason drowned as they state in that film, hence his mother being the one to seek revenge.

Even moving forward with the sequels, some say Jason is still dead from Part 2 and that it's his vengeful spirit that has embodied a physical form. Others say he never did die and lived in the woods as a hermit till he found his mother on the night she was beheaded. Hell doesn't get mentioned until JGTH if I'm not mistaken and it's pretty fucked up your friend thinks he was in hell at the time of drowning as a young innocent boy lol.

So yeah, if your debate is just about the first film then your friend shouldn't be claiming facts from the sequels as they often retcon or change things up. But then you're kind of wrong too, in that nothing in the original film suggests he was still alive.
That being said, I like watching Part 2 with the idea that he never did die as it's pretty much the picture they paint in that one.

If you want to get technical, Jason doesn’t even die in the first film, except maybe in a split second flashback while Pamela is explaining her motive. But she’s bat shit insane so her recollections may be completely warped. If it wasn’t for the sequels there’d be no guarantee that she even HAD a child. There’s no evidence elsewhere in the film to even support that he ever existed at all.
