Hell, I work close to Conyers! I need to crash the set!
Wasn't he the original writer? I honestly don't know.
He was indeed. I had heard that there was an issue with the next film moving forward because of him.
More information about the Friday the 13th sequel (to the 2009 film)
Fuck yes! Friday the 13th set piece from the 70s or 80s? I dig. Appreciate the link.
I like the set piece news. But if a part is supposed to be an origin, young Jason stuff. Then this is where the 70's comes into play. Will have to wait to see how this all plays out.
I said it before, I'll say it again. Just do Friday the 13th Part 11. Scenario, Camp Crystal Lake during the winter. Never been done before in the series. I'll write the dam script myself if you want. Then producers with your tail between your legs, call Hodder. And hope he doesn't tell you to go screw.
Well it sounds like he won't be a mongoloid in this from what I can tell. There was a casting call for young Jason I can no longer find that said they wanted twins and didn't mention makeup. Now news that his father will be in it with no mention of Jason's deformities (just his father sensing evil in him) makes me think the mongoloid angle is being scrapped. He could still suffer an accident later and become disfigured I guess.
Not sure how I'd feel about this if it's true.
Paramount Just Pulled ‘Friday the 13th’ Off the Release Schedule: http://bloody-disgusting.com/news/3423750/paramount-just-pulled-friday-13th-off-release-schedule/
This is ridiculous. I can't believe they've had this much trouble getting a new F13 off the ground.
It's probably all for the best. It probably would have sucked. New Line, Paramount, and everyone's mother have had a chance to learn what made Friday the 13th great since the property first traded hands in the early 90's.
It's just not meant to be.
Well that just sucks!!!
BLOODY FUCK! How hard is this, really????
Aaaand it's cancelled:
I didn't believe for a second it would happen, even with shooting dates and casting underway.
Also the film's budget was 21 million....Am I crazy in thinking that's too high for this film? It's a simple formula but Platinum Dunes didn't understand that.
Glad this didn't get made. When the rights go back to WB next year hopefully they can get one going.
I think they could have trimmed that budget quite a bit without sacrificing much in the way of quality. Most of the original films were shot with sub-$3 million budgets which would only be about $10 million nowadays once you factor for inflation.
Platinum Dunes needs to be taken out of the equation. There are plenty of independent directors that could probably make a better F13 film for a fraction of the cost.
It's so ridiculously easy to make a F13th film. You don't even need a script. (Like that's stopped studios before.) "Teens in the woods being chased by a guy in a hockey mask... GO!"
Any film crew can do it in their sleep with funds gathered from money dropped by hookers as they were kicked out the door of the Executive Lounge any given weekday. That any Friday 13th of any given year can't have a new one thrown up on the screen is a flat out embarrassment for Paramount.
Yes, I definitely agree.
I agree the Platinum Dunes needs to be removed from the equation. They often make substandard films anyway and have big trouble getting sequels to their films which can't say much for them.
Just a general bit of insider information. Casting calls and shooting schedules mean absolutely nothing. I work in the industry. I was on a film about a year and a half ago that was cast with A-listers, locations were chosen, sets were being built, stunts were being rehearsed, we were less than a week away from filming and the plug got pulled.
Yeah, I don't doubt it a bit. They just announced that World War Z 2 has been taken off the release schedule as well. I actually was looking forward to that even more than Friday the 13th.
