I picked this up in the bargain bin the other day. It stars Calista Flockhart, who's never really been in anything that interests me so I wasn't expecting it to be all that great. I figured it was $1 and had a Fangoria label across the top so what the hey? It's directed by the guy who does those REC films, Jaume Balaguero. This one he did before any of those. It wasn't anything ground-breaking but t was impressed at how much I found it to be a chilling little ghost story. Very well done and Calista Flockhart sold everything well beyond the call of duty. Definitely one to check out if you like Guillermo Del Toro. It had a similar feel to some of his stuff.
Surprisingly, I remember this being the best of that Fangoria Fright Fest series. Didn't think I was going to like it. Most of those movies were duds though. I remember Dark House being fun.
If I remember correctly, Buena Vista (Disney) had U.S. distribution rights at some point (IMDb now lists MGM) but for some reason the movie was shelved. I own the German Blu-ray which contains the R-Rated version.
I only bought Dark House (which turned out to be fun indeed) and Pig Hunt. Pig Hunt had potential but never truly delivered. Which is too bad because I'm a fan of backwoods horror.
I liked this too. Good solid little ghost story. Never bothered with it for years and then picked it up for a buck or two at a used store.
