The past ten years have churned out a massive volume of horror movies, even a few that I like very much. But few of them are straight-up favourites with me - that list would include All the Boys Love Mandy Lane, Dagon, Jeepers Creepers, Haute tension, and Black Swan. Though they don't seem to have very many ardent fans, I also quite liked Hide and Seek as well as White Noise. I also enjoyed the remakes of The Crazies, The Hills Have Eyes, Piranha, and A Nightmare on Elm Street. I need to re-aquaint myself with The Mist and The Mothman Prophesies - I watched though in a period were I was more than sceptical of recent horror.
I loved Jeepers Creepers, especially the first half. Recently re-watched Drag Me To Hell and while it bordered on over the top, comedic at times it was still pretty good. Much of the CGI on the unrated version was horrible though.
Most Faves: The Butterfly Effect (more thriller...but horrifying!) May Identity Inside Trick 'R' Treat The Devil's Rejects Second Faves: The House of the Devil The Descent Let the Right One In Session 9 Drag Me To Hell Repo! The Genetic Opera Sweeney Todd: Demon Barber of Fleet Street Wrong Turn House of Wax Black Swan Texas Chainsaw Massacre '03 Grindhouse Dog Soldiers *Still Need to See Wendigo, 28 Days/Weeks, and [REC]. Other than that, I've pretty much taken into account most that are top tier. Honorable mention goes to Black X-Mas '06. Shitty ass film. Terrible from start to finish. But with some of the best set-ups and pacing between deaths with the cast that has been done since the 80s. This film WILL become a cult classic in 20 years, I bet everything on it!
Couldn't narrow it down to just ten, and I still have stacks of potential favorites sitting unwatched. Dread 28 Weeks Later The Hills Have Eyes Antichrist Pontypool House of the Devil Insidious Nightwatch Jennifer's Body Frozen Grace Texas Chainsaw Massacre Hostel Part II Paranormal Activity Midnight Meat Train The Ruins High Tension Martyrs Ju-On/The Grudge Freddy vs. Jason Jason X SAW/SAW II The Skeleton Key Frailty Cabin Fever Final Destination 2 Silent Hill Mirrors [Rec]/[Rec] 2 Orphan Stake Land Ginger Snaps May The Exorcism of Emily Rose The Killing Gene Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon H2: Halloween II

Favourite? Geez... you'd have better luck asking me my least favourite horror film of the last 10 years - and reading through this thread pretty much lists every single one of them! Dark Water (02) The best of the rest TCM remake - I remember liking it at the time, but I haven't seen it since The Ring - US version, can't recall seeing the original, but I may have One Missed Call - remake, I would probably enjoy the original just as much, only I haven't seen it Final Destination 2 and 3 And despite its obvious flaws, Wrong Turn was good fun. I also enjoyed several of the last decades remakes, and even though The Hitcher isn't really a horror film, I actually preferred its remake! That said, I did find the original plodding and dull, so anything is an improvement over Rutger Hauer. I seem to have spent much of the last 10 years watching a lot of movies I probably shouldn't. I think the torture porn of the 00s to me is like the cannibal movies of the 70s and 80s, I think I should watch them because I am a genre fan, but there are genres within genres I should probably just stay away from. Looking at that list, I think more Jhorror is on the cards.
Two movies come immediately to mind as being the those that completely caught me off guard and blew me away: Wolf Creek and High Tension There've been a lot in the past 10 years that I've really enjoyed and some I've even loved, but those two just really stand out for me.
