I want to now this question about what is it like with your partner girlfriend/boyfriend about watching horror movies? Do they like this kinds of movies or is maybe a problem when is time to watch and you want but they dont? Do you have to watch a movie they like in an exchange? My girlfriend is ok with horror if is inteligent scripts not very much if is only gore so I watch this alone but she is ok with most this horror movies in general aspect.

My gf isn't a fan of horror or gore. When we first started dating, actually probably for the first two years she would watch them with me as I guess she knew they were a part of my life. Now though, probably due to the "October Horrorathon" where I watched at least a horror movie a day, she won't watch them, so I just watch them when she's not there or when my buddies are over as they are all pretty much big horror fans like myself. Once in a while she'll watch them with me though, she just hides her head a lot as again she hates gore, but mostly because they actually scare her, which is weird for me as I don't see how anyone at our age could get scared by these movies.

Like myself, my gf of 6 years grew up watching horror. When she was in grade school, she brought the film Maniac to a girl's birthday party. She is the one who instigates and makes the plans for when we go to the Toronto International Film Festival and the Festival of Fear.

I had a girlfriend in the past that I turned into a real gore fan, but then she turned out to be a cheating whore.

Then there was another gal I dated who was really into horror, but she was also like really into looking all, erm, "Twilight-y" and also had an obsession with blood, so she went out the door too.

I think I'll be completely content if my next girlfriend has no interest in horror at all.

Thankfully, the guy I've been dating for the past few months is a fan of horror movies. And, even better, he's okay with all kinds of horror: Suspense, gore, 80's slashers, psychology thrilers, etc.

My only gripe? He's one of those folks that enjoys movies at the time, but remembers nothing about them. There have been several times when we're at the video store and he'll walk over with a dvd to rent... and I'm like "Dude, we just watched that last week." : )

The guys I've dated have never like horror, and any female friends of mine don't care for horror either. The only person that I can faithfully rely on to see horror films with me is my brother, who loves horror as much as I do.

Most girls don't get too far with me if they're not willing to humor my horror obsession. My current girlfriend is of the variety that has to scream, hide her eyes, laugh, &tc, but only at the right parts, which I find infinitely endearing! She won't watch realistic torture porn kind of stuff. She loves anything Italian, which has made for a lot of Bava viewing of late. I've dated a couple guys, too, but they both thought horror was a waste of time. (They were down on my video games too.)

  8. Well I've had three big "loves" of my life, and all three femmes (French for women) didn't really ever gel too much into my big time obsession with horror films. But I did tell them that it is a huge part of my life, and they respected that, but hard to say why they simply never got into'em. There's just something about the macabre that, I don't know, repells a lot of people. Wish more was into'em though, but I have yet to meet a girl that is as heavily into older genre film collecting as I am.

    Go figure ...

She doesn't watch much of the new stuff, does she?

We both love horror movies. He watches more than I do, and loves the Troma.

My girlfriend thinks everything I like or do is stupid.

My wife likes all the "tried and true" classics like Halloween, Friday the 13th, etc. She likes some of the Eurohorror type stuff but it tends to be hit or miss. Some films she'll say, "That was pretty good" and some she'll say "That was STUPID. How much did you pay for that!?!"

She DOES like House on the Edge of the Park and often quotes Hess' character, so she's pretty cool...

My fiancee likes them but she has this thing called "good taste" meaning when I showed her Halloween, Exorcist, etc for the first time she was really interested. Suspiria, Zombie, Cemetery Man... all good. She loved Peter Jackson's Braindead.

Jess Franco, Paul Naschy, Jean Rollin... ... ... I totally lost her here. Especially with Franco. Oof. She really hates his movies.

She was a sport and went with me to see Troll 2 on the big screen.

Basically she was curious and intrigued by the good ones, but once we moved past there she was not feelin' it.

My wife hates gore and maniac horror. Friday the 13th, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Zombie flicks - forget it. Like spawningblue, she used to watch them with me in our early dating years, but got sick of 'em over time. She likes thrillers though - 1408 and Blair Witch she really enjoyed. I typically just watch my movies late night after she goes to bed. If we have friends over for a "Horror-a-thon", like I'm doing this Saturday, she'll hang out and watch. I think what turned her off over time was the low-budget stuff, and Devil Rejects kinda smut.

I'm actually VERY lucky because she's not into the girly flicks at all. So, there's no trade-off BS.

My wife likes a lot of horror, but only the more quality stuff--she has no patience for "so bad it's good" or the lapses in logic, etc. of Eurohorror. She also doesn't like slashers or anything too realistic. She doesn't care for some of the older films, although others she likes. I've definitely lucked out.

Yeah, Franco was a non-starter with mine too.

Although she DID kind of like Tinto Brass' Caligula!

Well my girl is a painter and has that artist personality (as opposed to my mercenary sensibilities) so she can dig on say, Dario, and the splashes of color, or the quirkiness of Cemetery Man... but if all it is is hairy naked euro chicks and no narrative, I lose her real fast.

Brass' movies, while all sex-oriented aren't always bad, though... but Caligula? Wow!

Heh. I always thought Venus in Furs might be the best introduction for anyone to the world of Franco...and then move right on to his WIP flicks. ;)

Never got a chance to try this theory.

My ex actually rented and enjoyed Blood for Dracula, which was a surprise. But I think it was due to her love of Udo.

    UDO!

My girlfriend absolutely loves horror movies, especially obscure ones. She probably knows more about some films than I do!

If I had started with Venus in Furs I might have had a shot as that is an OK flick, but I think she saw shit like Erotic Rights of Frankenstein or something...
