Looks like SCORPION RELEASING is putting it out. The cover art is up on their website but no list of any extras or a date!

    It's under the Horror/Suspense category.

Been waiting for this for a LONG time!

I never saw Death Ship, but have always been interested. Picked up a few Scorpion titles and enjoyed them all. Cool news! :) Love that cover art, by the way.

Nice... I'll probably wait and see how it compares to the R2 DVD from Nucleus. That release had lossless PCM audio and quite a lot of extras.

in fangoria number 9 theres a jamie lee curtis article promoting terror train, she mentions that her and her live in boyfriend went to the movies to see DEATH SHIP and she hated it. and went on to say how she doesnt like horror movies. seemed kinda snobby in the interview..

FINALLY! Many times I almost sprung for the region 2 special edition which looks like it's somewhat packed with bonus features. I really hope we get the same package over here.

I've had the japanese widescreen DVD for a while now, and frankly the movie is not sooo great, but for fans of 80's horror it's a must see. Good atmosphere and cast make it worthwhile.

I posted this news on The Latarnia Forums where Scorpion Releasing's brother, who runs Code Red, frequents, and he replied to a poster who said he couldn't imagine SR's version being better looking than the UK version, saying he took a sneak peak at it and it's ten times better looking. Excellent! Now, if those extras the UK version has get's ported over, I'd say it's a win-win situation for all us fans. For the record, I have to say I have never seen DEATH SHIP, always wanted to, but I do vaguely recall seeing a commercial about a haunted ship when I was a kid and it scared the shit out of he every time I saw it. Pretty sure this is the same movie.

Maybe Scorpion had luck finding the original film negatives? I recall that they were thought forever lost or destroyed, and thus weren't available for the UK DVD transfer.

If he really meant to say that Scorpion´s will be better... I´ll wait and see, I mean... Code Red equals Bill, and he´s always saying bad things about UK releases solely for the fact that they sell more than his titles so not too sure if what he says it´s true... at this point, Bill is like the "Crazy" Ralph character from Friday The 13th. "If it´s from the UK, it´s got a death curse".

Also, "ten times better looking"??? Blu-ray?

I also have the wonderful Nucleus R2 release so let´s see if this one is better.

George Kennedy FTW. And Dobby, come on man, it's not that bad. I kinda dig this movie and watch my region 2 import at least 2 or 3 times a year. Richard Crenna also, this movie has great eerie atmosphere and is one of my favourite 80's horror genre. Love it.

    Haha it grew on me?

They could've done a lot worse. There are some genuinely creepy moments.
