Cursed is a well made, gritty, period horror film that is currently playing in theaters. The film is shot in color but it is very muted. Some bloody violence and a scene that reminded me of Carpenter's The Thing. The film is atmospheric and shot in scope so seeing it on a big screen TV won't do it justice. Go see this in the theater if you get the chance. The film is played straight, without any comedy which is always refreshing for modern made horror films. I'm very glad I saw this.
I saw this on Saturday and also thought it was very good. It's very atmospheric and quite spooky at times, the eerie score really helps, especially during the massacre scene. There's some pretty gruesome gore, and an interesting creature design - the autopsy scene might've been the highlight for me, it was super creepy. I think a lot of people might find it slow, which it can be at times, but I didn't find it boring at any point. Also, I was convinced Annabelle Wallis was the mom for the whole movie, only to find out it was Kelly Reilly. They looks almost identical to me.
I agree with everything you said. That scene was also the highlight for me as it was quite unexpected and reminiscent of The Thing.
I'm hoping this sticks around theatrically for another week or two. Definitely wanna try and catch this weekend on the big screen. This and Studio 666
