Here's a little early Christmas present for you all! http://www.tribute.ca/player/enhanc...T=1&filePath=Trailers&fileName=blackchristmas
I dislike that they seem to be attempting to create a new horror icon out of Billy, but, aside from the dumb quick-cutting near the end of the trailer, this looks pretty good. Looks like they succeeded in keeping the creepy-as-hell tone of the original, so I will definitely be seeing this in theaters.
I hate to admit it but I'm actually looking forward to this one. At the very least Michelle Trachtenberg's in it. I'm sure I'll end up being disappointed in it as the original is one of my favourites, but I'll give it a chance and try not to compare it to the original too much. My only complaint with the trailer is that I'm not sure that I like the killer's voice. It's not as scary/insane sounding.
No, I think it's clearly not a PG-13 movie. I saw some rather gruesome pictures a couple of months back in Fangoria... but the most disturbing picture of all was of Billy, who looks like a cross between a pirate (eye-patch and all) and Julian Sands from Argento's Phantom of the Opera. :eek2:
I can't say I'm overly impressed with the trailer, but it didn't look half bad. That said, I'm not sure if it's a good idea to throw away the whodunit element of the original (red herrings and all) and go with an obvious "Billy-killer". And making cookies out of his family's bodies? That's just silly, not very scary. And I agree very much with maskull - the killer's voice isn't scary or insane-sounding at all.
I hope you're right because it seems that Dimension never releases R horror films in theaters anymore (usually pg-13 theatrical, then unrated dvd).
  Yep! After reading the article about the film in this month's Fango and seeing the trailer, I'll avoid this baby like it was fruitcake.
Is it just me or does this seem more like a sequel than a remake? Andrea Martin was one of the only survivors from the first one and now she's back in the same house telling the new girls about it's past. I'll still see it regardless
Actually, Andrea Martin didn't make it in the original...She was killed along with all the others, and her body is shown upstairs with her boyfriend's, I think.
Looks like they're out to EXPLAIN EVERY MOTIVE the killer has in this one. I wanted to see more, but the trailer is over-edited with too many quick cuts and loud sound effects ... drives me F-ing crazy.
trailer looked pretty good and creepy! The original was so good though, hopefully im not dissapointed. I also liked how the original kept it all a mystery too, but I guess if you can't top it, it's cool that they're tyring something a bit different. Only complaint... why was the guy's voice from Saw at the very end of the trailer. Anyways else think they were a tiny bit too similar. Trying to cash in on Saw's success me thinks.
Looks like a steaming pile of garbage. Way to take away every "mysterious" element that Billy had in the first one and replace it with the cheesy "THE KILLER LIVED HERE AND ITS HIS ANNIVERSARY" schtick. Looked PG-13 too.....
The original is so damn good, and this does look like a sequel...sort of. In the trailer, I can't tell if the "voiceover" is just that or if it's the voice of "Billy." Either way, it sounds like Jigsaw (and not at all as scary as the original--no way they'll be able to replicate that). It looks all right. I'll rent.
