So what do you all think? Bale is great, can this work?
I think this is great news and it will bring new life to the series. Bale brings real credibility to the proceedings.
I think Bale will make a great John Connor. There were rumors of Josh Brolin playing The Terminator. Hoping that Brolin does get the part and not some professional wrestler.
Here are my concerns:
RATING: Are they going for PG-13 now? I think a Terminator film should always be R-rated.
DIRECTOR: Can he make a credible Terminator film or will it be more akin to one of his Charlie's Angels movies?
CAST: A rap star in a leading role here? :nervous: Aside from Bale, the cast thus far has me unimpressed. Get Brolin in the film and I will change my mind!
Bale atleast looks the part.
I dont know what they were thinking casting that big-head-kid Nick Stahl as John last time....
Just...do...not understand Bale's whole-hearted backing of this franchise, which I think has taken a step down with each installment (yes, T2 was a feast for the eyes, but repeat viewings made me realize that it still isn't as good as the first).
It's great to have him on board, though.
This is actually rather old news. Bale's been attached for at least a year, so I wonder if they've only just signed him? From what I've read about the new trilogy, Connor won't be in the first much but will play a bigger role in the last two. I actually like T3 and the new TV series, so I'm up for it but I'm hoping McG drops as he's dropped from quite a few projectors over the past decade or so.
If they do this, and I'm all for it, just please return it to an R rating. For whatever reason, I just think a Terminator movie needs to be rated R. Am I out of the norm here?
Same here. The original is very very near and dear to my heart, and while I love the second, I could actually do without it. The third I just do not deign to acknowledge its existence.
Maybe I'm missing something, but what Terminator movie wasn't R rated?
Well, although Bale is IMO one of the greatest actor's in Hollywood at the moment, he has starred in his fair share of crap (Reign of Fire anyone? Shaft?)
Well, I like the future idea, but to automatically go for three? Lame. Just do one. If this crap is spread over three, it's almost like real-time. Plus, aren't future terminators just the metal skeletons? Who needs to be cast as Terminator?
There shouldn't be just ONE terminator.
I'd rather watch Lady Terminator over the original any day of the week. There should be two trilogies and a TV show staring Summer Glau made of that instead. Hrm, I can really picture Glau as the South Seas Queen too...
Lady Terminator rocks! Good call on that.
I honestly don't remember the first one. T2 was one of the movies that (to show my age) I was too young to watch all the way through, so my parents would let me watch as long as I turned around during the gory scenes. My dad would signal me to turn around and when the part was over, I'd get to keep watching. My grandmother (who used to tape movies off of HBO & Cinemax for me) had no idea about this rule so I actually watched them and thought it was sweet. Probably one of the seeds planted for me to enjoy horror/science-fiction films.
Wow...an eerie ditto on this one. :eek2:
Wait... your grandmother planted her seed in you? That's fucked up.
That's how my parents were with Terminator, ironically that made this rule after I saw Arnold take a knife to his own eye. Damage done. They let me watch T2 without any qualms. After seeing Terminator I'd take tin foil with red paint and make myself into a cyborg. I even began mixing brown and black in the paint to make it all grimy. Fun stuff, I probably wasn't even 9 years old yet looking at the math.
My Terminator days didn't last long before a friend showed me the wonders of Aliens, Robocop and The Fly. Too bad I didn't discover The Thing until high school, that would have been a real thrill as a kid.
Knitting the seeds of love.
