I am in for Elvira & Bloody Birthday. Two out of three? I'm happy.
I'm definitely in for Elvira. People on blu-ray.com are seemingly ecstatic over Waterworld. I've never had the slightest interest in seeing that, but isn't it the general consensus that Waterworld completely sucks?
That is so weird to me that Elvira is UK only.
I saw it once in the theater all those many years ago. Once was enough.
Glad to see Elvira finally get announced, I'll definitely be getting this one! Bloody Birthday is one I enjoy and I'm sure I'll pick that up as well, assuming it's an upgrade over the Severin release, but I'm not too keen on buying it again.
Always loved Waterworld will be getting that one!
I couldn't care less about consensus opinion. I've always considered Waterworld a total blast. Props to Arrow for going all out for it.
I've always enjoyed Waterworld as well. I can definitely remember all the talk about what a disaster the movie was considered at the time of release.
It’s a prime example of 1990’s Hollywood excess. I was lukewarm on it at the time, but I think the silliness of it all has probably aged well. I say “probably” because I haven’t seen it in at least a decade, but I’m finding new appreciation in action films from the era that I never had back then, (Face Off or The Rock for instance) because all the new action films have too much shaky cam.
I also don't usually care about consensus opinion either, I have loved a lot a universally panned movies over the years. Waterworld isn't really the type of movie I'd watch in general, so I don't even really know what it's about. I have just heard so many bad things (like Battlefield Earth level bad) over the years that I was surprised to see that it has a lot of fans. I just figured everyone was being snarky at first.
That is possibly why. Despite being a UK-only release, the Arrow release might turn out to be coded for Region A + B, as the German Blu-ray was region free.
Why release two cuts; doesn't one just have extra gore?
It looks like there are some alternate shots used between the two: https://www.movie-censorship.com/report.php?ID=1900
It's basically around the same running time for both cuts though. They could probably do it with seamless branching.
That's what I would have thought they'd use. I'm assuming both cuts should be remastered, does anyone know?
If you read the article it suggests so, nothing: the scene was scanned and restored to match as close as possible.
I was getting ready for work haha. Thanks for the info.
Priorities next time! Ha ha
Out next week...anyone get theirs early?
Mines been sent. Just waiting for it to arrive.
