    SUSPIRIA
    TENEBRE
    DEEP RED

I can only find very few reviews on these. Only the darkdream ones.

Can someone out there help me out in finding out if these masterpiece films are masterpiece dvds. :)

I'm not sure if Dragon's Tenebre is completely uncut, but if you already own the Anchor Bay versions of Deep Red and Suspiria, which are widely considered the definitive releases, then it is pretty pointless to get the Dragon versions, unless you are a hardcore Argentophile.

I thought the best Tenebrae out there was the Dutch one with the title "Shadows"?

Didn't BU get these titles back from ABUS, and weren't they going to rework them sometime?

Deep Red won't be definitive for me until I get a decent 90 minute print....

Yeah, I find myself wishing BU would put out a two-disc set of Deep Red with both 120 and 90 minute versions. I don't wanna stoop to buying one of those Brentwood sets just to see it.

Well, the new japanese dvd has both cuts of deep red.

I'm a big fucking argentophile. He my second fav director. That's why I'm asking.

Lustig said to me at comic con that they are at the very early stages of the argento titles.

I can only speak for the Anchor Bay dvds.I have the multi disc SUSPIRIA ,whick looks gorgeous and has lots of extras.DEEP RED is also a handsome disc with decent extras,my only complaint was that David Hemmings face goes to a freeze frame over the end credits,in the original Italian cut,he continues to move.TENEBRE(one of A BAY's first two Argento discs) is slightly trimmed (minus an extra knife slash in one scene) and is(like PHENOMENA) non anamorphic. Those two titles need the biggest upgrade in my opinion.

What's wrong with the new UK release's short version? They fucked up the long version (lizard scene still missing and poor picture quality) and the covers contain some wrong information about the soundtracks and extras but the short version is uncut and anamorphic.

    Dark Dreams review:
The anamorphic english version is the best here that I have seen it. The colours are nicely saturated and the reds are very er... red. Skin tones look ok and the black levels although not perfect are acceptable. The print used suffers a bit from white spotting or flecking but it is not too bad.

So am I, but I don't feel the need to rebuy all of the DVDs until BU rereleases them.

I don't know the UK version, and have not read reviews. Having been banned from DarkDreams, I don't read their reviews - so thanks for that :D

Yeah, I'm waiting. They might be at the early stages (as much as anything else, one assumes they have to wait for the current releases to clear the shelves), but we're getting Bird with the Crystal Plummage real soon.

I must say - the ragon discs might be excellent - however, generally, I've not been impressed with the quality of DVD releases in Germany...

Another cool thing that strikes me is the Packaging. I hear the suspiria discs are housed in a big cruifix.

    How Orginial Is That!!!

    P.S.

    I'm on my 666th post.

    Spooky............

A store local to me stocks these titles. The packaging on both Suspiria and Deep Red is f*cking great - no doubt. No-one, to my knowledge, has packaged them as well. However, for me, what's the point of a nice shiny booklet in German?

I guess hardcore Argento collectors will definately want them - primaruly I'm interested in the films though, and I think we all know that sometime in the future, BU is going to redefine them.

How is the deep red packaging.

    Which stores stock it?

    Where are they located?

And, how much are they selling it for?

If I recall, the Deep Red packaging folds out, and is excellent. A store local to me stocks it, I gorget the price, they're not cheap, and the US dollar is worthless these days, so importing is even more expensive :(

The Dragon disc of Suspiria doesn't have the audio problems found on the Anchor Bay disc; Lustig took a lot of heat for the AB disc but he still stands by it so I don't know if Blue Underground will try to fix what they don't consider broken. I do believe the Dragon Suspiria disc is out of print though, looks like Deep Red might be as well.

I bought Suspiria for the audio track but that's it, unless you want the packaging (which indeed is quite cool), I couldn't recommend picking these up with HD and Blue Underground 'round the corner.
