Probaly a direct copy of the double blu-ray we got before with stranger calls, I did see that a trailer and the disco soundtrack as extras. but other than that. and its a limited 5000 copies edition
It will not be a direct copy. The previous release had 2 films crammed onto one disc. They're a new company and I already have their releases of Christine and Body Double and they're the best releases available and for a great price too. Booklets with essays, more features, high quality transfers with maxed out bitrates.
Happy Birthday to Me will contain the following (from Indicator/Powerhouse's press release):
• Original mono audio
• Alternative 5.1 surround sound track
• Alternative score: experience the film with the controversial re-scored electronic music soundtrack, as used on the 2004 home video re-release
• Audio commentary by the Hysteria Lives! team: Justin Kerswell (author of Teenage Wasteland: The Slasher Movie Uncut) Joseph Henson, Erik Threlfall and Nathan Johnson
• Image gallery: on-set and promotional material
• Original trailer and TV spots
• New and improved English subtitles for the deaf and hard-of-hearing
• Limited edition exclusive 24-page booklet with extracts from the original press kit, advertising and promotion guide, and selected film reviews
Oh and it's region free. Looks like they're releasing Sony/Columbia titles, so I assume most if not all will be region free.
I just wet myself.
I will get this. but the one we have now looks really great as it is, can't imagine it looking much better.. but this is still a must for the extras..
Just pre ordered this....
cant wait too see if transfer is the same as the blu out now..
If it is, it will at least be a better encode. Their Blu-ray releases of Christine and Body Double surpassed the Twilight Time Blu-ray releases.
The Mill Creek double-feature Blu-ray has such a crappy cover. I wish they'd release When a Stranger Calls also, and then I could ditch that release.
I did however read that this will include the original mono soundtrack. Now the one on the anchor bay and mill creek one had these strang e added sound effects only on two of the murders, the first one the throat slashing had a more enhanced sound effect not heard on all previous vhs , cable even the first dvd , And the second was the weight lifting killing, it made the impact crushing have a more louder sound, unlike the natural one we were all use to. surprised no one elses has ever not noticed that..
Any reviews for this yet???
This is UK? So, it'll be PAL?
I remember a few years ago, before everyone wanted my head on a plate for being anti-Blu Ray, everyone was extremely pissed at me for being anti-Region 2. I decided to break that policy for Universal's 2-disc Collector's set of Creepshow. And...
It turns out that I can't do PAL. It speeds up, changes the entire tone of a film. Actors' voices, their actions, cuts / editing... No... I can't do PAL on a film I'm already intimately familiar with. Why would people be upset that I object to something that changes / affects an entire film?
There is no PAL with blu ray all films are 24fps. its only the extra's that are sometimes encoded in in 1080i 50 which some US players cannot play.
so no reviews then I quess..
If there were substantial movie-related extras, I would consider importing. Deleted scenes, interviews with the cast/crew, etc. Since there's not, I will probably pass.
The Mill Creek bluray double feature is actually a pretty solid presentation, especially for the dirt cheap price.
Can't wait for this new release. Great news. I recently watched it for the first time since childhood and actually liked it better now. So a high quality release like this deserves my money. Will definitely watch the sh! out if it.
Definitely will be importing this one also along with their Body Double release which I hear is killer since I missed out on the Twilight Time release.
I'm definitely interested in picking this up as I rather like HBTM. Curious to see some reviews first as I also have the US double feature. The disco track is a nice inclusion for completest sake
Got my copy in the mail today. Got a big pile of stuff to get through though so not sure when i'll be watching it yet.
Let us know how it is. or if the transfer is just as good as the double blu. thanks
