I was rather disappointed by it. It does have a rather fun scene involving a guy's trouser snake and the title creature's furry hand.

Sweet, I'm in for all three most likely - definitely NOTD. Never seen Haunted nor Mardi Gras Massacre. I've actually heard Mardi Gras Massacre is terrible, but I'll give it a run.

They have started updating the codereddvd blog again. I knew Bill saying they were closing these doors was bullshit. I called it from his first rant.
Now that said I'm super pumped they are still around and releasing more titles.

If they wanted to claim to be closing just to boost sales or get publicity, don't you think they'd make a grander announcement than an oft-hand remark on a... message board? We picked up the story then many other sites did. Code Red have always laid things on a straight line via this forum, something you just don't get from most DVD companies. Yet instead of garnering more respect, it garners cynicism.

Well someone said pretty much the same thing on their site and Bill said "VCX don;t fu*k around. They will mail whatever have on these three films.". So I think we should be fine.

I haven't seen night of the Demon but have heard a lot about it so it will be a must buy! Glad to see Code Red is sticking it out through these tough times!

Agreed. It was probably something that was in serious consideration, but maybe they figured out a way to stay in business. Either way, it's good news!

Where, on that website they haven't updated in years? If it was indeed a marketing ploy (and I'm not saying it WAS, just wouldn't be surprised if it indeed was the motivation, I know more than just a couple of people that have been snatching up older releases in preparation due to that post in these forums), it would spread word way better by saying it here. Sure, HorrorDVD's is a forum, but like AVManiacs, the forum area is every bit as important and integral to the site's popularity, arguably more so, than the actual site content.

They didn't do it for sales. Bill freaked out and said somthing out of anger. When you are critical about one of his release he gets very defensive and to quickly gather back support he makes the stangest comments that so many people fall for.
But like i said I hope Bill keeps things up for as long as possible, but people need to learn not to believe everything they read.
And I do believe sales must be better now as many people are FINALLY supporting his releases. I have most of them and it didn't take an OOP scare to get me to buy them.

I'm not expecting much, but I wonder if they'll be able to dig up some extras for Night of the Demon. The whole film is shrouded in mystery, more so than almost any other horror film I can think of. As far as I know, the cast and crew never went on to do anything else. I have no idea if it ever had a limited or even 'underground' theatrical release...

After looking at Code Red's blog, it's clear there was at least a poster made for the flim. I'll be happy enough to just have the film itself, but it would be cool to learn about the film's origins and release.

BTW that poster has nothing to do with the film!

LOL yup. As is the case with a lot of Grindhouse/Exploitation flicks. It's definitely a poster for the film though, as I've seen various video covers using the same title font.

But companies like Code Red ARE on the edge of closing their doors. It was looking seriously like Media Blasters was going to shut down this year, and they have much more muscle than Code Red.

I doubt it was a marketing gimmick but a frank statement in an economy where even MGM is filing for bankruptcy.

Has there ever been an original artwork for the Night of the Demon? Was is a direct-to-video production? All the VHS covers seem to be "homemade". The only cover that looks like a genuine cover artwork is the one from the German Westside VHS that was also used for the recent German DVD by Retro.

Hard to say. Like I said, this film is shrouded in so much mystery. However, while I was checking out IMDB, I found this link that someone posted on the discussion board that leads to a 2010 email interview with Michael J Cutt (Professor Nugent). It's kind of an awkward interview though. He beats around the bush with many of the questions and just keeps bitching about how he never got paid.

Watching bigfoot rip out a man's penis in 480p? I can't tell you how many years I've been waiting for that!

Awesome news about NIGHT OF THE DEMON, and the other two titles look interesting as well. What's the verdict on HAUNTED and MARDI GRAS MASSACRE?

Haunted is the only one of those three that I haven't seen. I will definitely be picking up all three....any of you guys seen Haunted? The poster looks great!

I haven't seen Haunted, but I thought Mardi Gras Massacre is pretty terrible.

My Mardi Gras Massacre review from Oh, The Horror!

I will, however, give it another shot with a decent print on Code Red's DVD.

I hope Night of the Demon really gets a release. Not only is the movie over the top, but it has to be the only Bigfoot movie to feature a 70s porn/bondage actress. ;)

I know there used be a Bigfoot researcher from 70s and her name was Barbara Wasson. I wonder if the director James C. Wasson is any kind of relation.

VCX released at least two different big-box covers for NOTD. The one I have has the van guy hanging over the windshield on the front. The other one I've seen has the guy who gets shoved onto the broken window on it. I also have the "budget release" that was released by UAV. The box shows a shadow of a Bigfoot holding a bloody skull with the neckbone still attached to it.
