RIP David R. Ellis
He passed suddenly from a heart attack in Johannesburg, South Africa earlier this morning. He was preparing to film KITE, which would've reunited Ellis with his Snakes on a Plane star Samuel L. Jackson.
http://www.deadline.com/2013/01/r-i-p-david-r-ellis/ He had some fun movies on his resume. Rest in peace. |

Sad news. His movies are goofy, but I really enjoy them. Final Destination 2 is my favorite of the series. Also a big fan of Cellular, which is a huge guilty pleasure of mine.

Sad and sudden news. There were few better at staging an action sequence, that's for sure. Few scenes compare to the intricacy and mayhem of that Final Destination 2 opening. Loved Cellular and the 4th FD as well. Shark Night, well, that's a terrible last film to have on your resume...

The man knew how to put together an action scene. I didn't care for his 3D films, but I had a lot of fun with Final Destination 2 and Snakes on a Plane. My favorite thing he directed was Cellular, a pretty underrated thriller. RIP

Love both of Final Destination films, Snakes on a Plane wasn't as fun as the hype, but the hype was so fun it skews my view and I do like it. Sad news, R.I.P.

R.I.P.
Snakes on a Plane was a ton of fun. I also actually enjoyed Shark Night for what it was. I didn't think it was nearly as bad as was heard everywhere.

I said somewhere else, under the review of Shark Night I think, that I think it could become a cult classic. It had many elements but is also missing many so time will tell. I liked it a bit more on second viewing, but it was still pretty bad.
